Gibb’s free energy is a measure to determine the availability of energy to perform a function. Two types of factors affect the energy change (ΔG) of a reaction. They are internal properties of a reaction and external factors such as environmental conditions, concentration of reactants and products. Internal properties include ΔH (enthalpy change) and ΔS (entropy change). Environmental factors include pressure and temperature.Â
