Answer to Problem 1RQ
A chemical property explains how a substance reacts with other substances. The chemical change, in which, the new product is formed and the absorption of energy or the loss of energies are in a different form. For example, formation of aluminum oxide and rust.
Explanation of Solution
Properties that can only be observed through a change in the chemical composition of a substance, called chemical property.
In a chemical change, a new substance is formed and absorption of energy or loss of energy occurs; it is an irreversible change. In chemical changes absorption and evolution of heat take place. The chemical changes are irreversible.
For example:
- A chemical reaction between aluminum and oxygen to form aluminum oxide is a chemical change.
- Iron and oxygen from rust is the example of chemical property.
