On September 11, 2001 tragedy struck. The sky was blue and it was a beautiful morning. I was walking down the street to get some breakfast with an old friend. I opened the door to the old Copper Lantern restaurant where we were suppose to meet, and there she was. She looked so amazing it was great to finally see Amanda again! Midcoversation there was suddenly a loud boom, and the ground rumbled. Girls in the restaurant screamed, with in minutes everything was chaotic. I grab Amanda's hand a pulled her through the waves of families till we finally got to the door. I took my first steps outside and everything was in a haze. The air was full of dust and it made my throat irritated. Amanda pointed up frantically with fear in her eyes. I looked up to see a huge cloud of black smoke. The streets filled with the sounds of sirens and horrifying screams. We had no idea what was going on but it felt like WW3 had begun. Other witnesses told us that a plane flew into one of the towers. I lived about 30 blocks away so my first reaction was to get to safety. We started sprinting down the sidewalk. We heard the engine of another plane because this …show more content…
The rumble turned into a shake that made Amanda and I turn around. The sight was indescribable. A massive cloud of dust darkened the sky. Almost like a tsunami of dirt. One of the towers collapsed. The dust burned my eyes to the point where I almost closed them completely. We ran fast but it felt faster because we couldn't see where we were going. I tripped a few good times. Amanda twisted her ankle so I opened one of the near by cars that was unlocked. I helped her in the car. We both thought this was the safest option and we were both out of breath. We could hardly see out the windows, in fact we couldn't. I pulled out my phone at this point. I had 19 missed calls from my parents because they new I was eating at the Copper Lantern which was near the Twin
"A plane just crashed right into one of the Twin Towers!" Someone yelled. People were screaming because they were on fire. Others were fleeing for their life, but all I could do was stare in awe at the smoking hole in one of the biggest towers in New York. September 11, 2001, one of the most devastating days for me, and for all of America.
The morning of 9/11 I wasn’t going to go to work because I had an allergy appointment,
On February 26, 1993 at 12:18 pm in New York City, the first call was received at the Central Office from a street alarm box at the corner of West and Liberty Streets. The call was reporting a possible transformer vault (or manhole) explosion on West Street near the World Trade Center. As manhole explosions are common in wet whether, there was no hint of a major catastrophe until the phones never ceased to ring after aid had arrived to the site. Numerous phone calls continued, now reporting smoke in the towers of the Trade Center as far up as the 33rd floor within the first three minutes of the explosion (http://members.aol.com/fd347/wtc.htm). The ceiling then collapsed in the train station, which
“This is it”, Will said softly as the he is in tower was collapsing. The jet fuel in an inferno about 20 feet away, scorching the concrete. There are dismembered limbs, scorched around him. He remembers the moments before the plane hit the 1st tower. He was terrified when he saw the plane collide. There were objects and debris flying everywhere. The people around him were terrified, wondering if the people in the other tower were alright. The tower was shook from the impact. He knew that he had to run, or else he would die. He sprinted as fast as he could to the stairs, when he was younger he had a similar experience, the Oklahoma City bombing.
The world was dark and scary. There no were people, noise or movement. The highway outside of the hangar was filled with empty cars and trucks. Planes were in the water and trains were off their tracks.
On September 11, 2001, catastrophe erupted in New York City, New York. This tragic event sparked a war, united a nation, and conceived various personal encounters from people whom were involved in the experience. In the short story “The Ashen Guy: Lower Broadway, September 11, 2001” Thomas Beller utilizes a chaotic tone that can be observed through his use of details, images, and diction.
It’s been 15 years since that day, but the moment still haunts me today. When we found out that a nuclear bomb was going to drop, my family and the rest of the street had no idea what to do. Everything was all over the place, seconds after the explosion happened. Houses were destroyed, cars were flipped and ravaged, and thousands of dead bodies were lying on the streets. Some of them were even our dearest friends.
Her voice was telling me to stay calm, this is normal, everyone goes through this. But I knew that something was wrong, it stung and I was not supposed to feel anything. Every kid gets a contact in their eye when they turned 11, today was my 11th birthday. I felt them touch my eye, she told me that the contact was in, and my world went dark……
“Don’t look down” the wind whispers tenderly as it blows through my golden trusses. Trifling detailed fragments of snow fall from the skies above, meeting the horizon. They are the calmness in this storm. My storm. The jagged icy glaciers, sharp as a knife, smooth as silk, tower overhead. Every breath I take is a battle, every thought is a war and every step is one closer to the end.
When I woke up everything was blurry and I could barely breath, then I started hearing noises like people talking the movement of materials and debris there were people crying and people laughing and I was happy to be alive then some firemen came over and lifted up the debris and materials of me and my son was alive, which made me happy. My son and I were rushed to the hospital where we were checked out but we only had a few minor burns, but I had a huge scrape on my arm. April 19 1995, was a very devastating day for me and my family, but at least I'm safe and so was my child. The news showed the devastation and what had happened today. FBI said they were doing to try their best to go and investigate and find out what or who caused the explosion, they suspect that is was the Islamic terrorists or some other big criminal that would do
I heard a big thump which hit the upstairs part of our house. I could barely breath. After a while it ended. My mom usually makes a roll call after The Dust Bowl hits us. “Mike, Sara, Melody’s ok and so am I.” “What happened upstairs!” I ask” We try to get upstairs but we can’t get
The headline rolled around for the special news broadcast memorializing the anniversary of 9/11. The hosts came on, and reread lines I had heard from a different script. A script I had heard every year in school for as long as I could remember.
Suena was walking home and she felt like she was being followed, but she thought it was because of the horror movie she watched the night before. It was about a twenty minute walk for Surena to get home and she often enjoyed but that day she didn’t enjoy it. When she got home there was a note on her fridge from her mother saying she’ll be back in a couple of hours and that there was leftovers in the fridge. She still had that icky feeling that someone was watching her, she kept saying in her head that it was just the horror movie scaring her. Her dog Belle was eating the couch again, when her mom got home she’d be mad. Surena went up stairs to her bedroom and forgot to lock the door that day, when her mother warned her many times before to
The man and woman has jumped from the building. We see them fall from the upper levels of the building, either way they would have died and yet instead of waiting for the fire to kill them or for the building to collapse they jump. The man and woman who probably did not know each other jumped from the north tower, they didn’t want to die alone. After all death is scary, but dying alone is the worst case scenario for many. The attack on the twin towers was my first memory of death.
Everyone ran for cover. I stood there, in the same spot when the man first came into the building. I felt like I was in shock, I was trembling and my pulse rate had increased. The screaming had gotten louder as he came towards the back where I was. I finally got an idea to call the police but I searched for my phone and could not find it, but in that moment I had realized, I had left it in the car. Another gunshot had gone off, but this time it was so close to me, it made me snap out of my trance. I knew exactly what to do.
