The morning of 9/11 I wasn’t going to go to work because I had an allergy appointment, but I had an important meeting so I cancelled it. That’s actually where I was when the attacks occurred. I was in tower 2 on the 31ST floor sitting and listening to my boss Hennery talk about a new project we would be starting next Thursday. We were still tired because it was 7:45 in the morning. I’m late. The Starbucks line was long and the coffee stain is still splattered on my black skirt. I check my calendar, September 11. The city’s smog is killing me. If it wasn’t for this meeting, I’d be at my allergist getting new medication to deal with it. I take another sip of my coffee. The heat and the splash of mint I had them add, helps open up my sinuses. The towers are in the distance. I hustle across 5th amid oncoming traffic. 7:38. I might make it. As I’m walking in and go up to the 31st floor to clock in, I say “hi” to my co-worker Sarah who was running late too, and my other co-worker Lisa. We have been working together for the past 7 years. When I finally get to the meeting, I sit in a chair with my back facing the big windows that show Tower One. Usually …show more content…
When I turned around to see the TV, I realized it was happening outside the window. Everyone sat in silence until a voice came over the intercom saying “we need to evacuate tower 2 but to not take the elevator.” We rushed to the stair way. It was crowding with people and was as hot as a sauna and about as humid as one too. The people were all trying to scurry down the stairs. Everyone had fear in her eyes and were trying to call their loved ones. People were on the phone trying to talk but kept shuddering because they were trying to hold back tears. All I could think about was the fact that I almost didn’t come to work today because of my allergy appointment. The humid, dusty air didn’t help
On September 11, 2001 tragedy struck. The sky was blue and it was a beautiful morning. I was walking down the street to get some breakfast with an old friend. I opened the door to the old Copper Lantern restaurant where we were suppose to meet, and there she was. She looked so amazing it was great to finally see Amanda again! Midcoversation there was suddenly a loud boom, and the ground rumbled. Girls in the restaurant screamed, with in minutes everything was chaotic. I grab Amanda's hand a pulled her through the waves of families till we finally got to the door. I took my first steps outside and everything was in a haze.
It was the morning of September 11, 2001 in New York City. I woke up at 6:00 am to put my uniform on and say goodbye to my wife and children as I head off to work. The morning started off just fine, the sun was shining the skies were blue, and traffic was heavy as businessmen and women were headed to work. I work with Brooklyn’s Ladder Company No. 157 as a firefighter. I went into work and greeted my friend George johnson who is also a firefighter. It was around 8:47 when I got the call that they were dispatching us and telling us to head to the north tower because there was an attack. When I heard the news I was in shock and couldn't believe it, but I knew what had to be done. I remember running into that building and all I could think about was am i going to make it out to see my family again, my main goal was to stay safe, and help as many people as
8:46 am was the beginning of the fear, worry and panic. America was under attack by terrorist. They hijacked four planes and each one was headed to a different destination. The first plane hit the north trade tower out of nowhere. What were we supposed to do terrorist were attacking and innocent people were dying. The second plane flight 175, with 65 people crashed next into the south tower. The towers were damaged and falling apart people tried to escape but it was too late the Twin Towers fell throwing clouds of dust into the air. The damage was terrifying, the towers were gone and there were still two more planes hijacked.
September 11, 2001 was a very horrible day. The twin towers was hit by 2 planes. The 2 planes hit the sides , middle of the buildings. When the planes hit , their was people inside working. The planes hit like mid way through the building. The people was struck at the top of the building but the people who was below escaped. Some people was hurt or killed because of the planes and the buildings. Some thoughts of 9/11 still plays through people heads from time to time.
Tuesday morning of September 11, 2001 was a day that no one will forget. I decided to write it out what happened to my family that very day in my mom’s perspective to make it easier to understand. My mom was in Pleasant Hill, CA and decided to skip that day of work because my older sister was sick. Madeleine, my eldest sister, was two at the time. Early in the morning a family friend of ours, Janet, called my mom asking if she saw what was happening. Janet said,” Jeanne the twin towers are on the ground, turn on the news!” My mom was so tired from staying up all night because of Madeleine that when she heard what happened she didn’t belive it. She quickly turned on the news and it replayed the airplanes hiting the twin towers and falling.
When 9/11/2001 occurred I was sitting in the lunch room at Good Year Elementary School in Brunswick Georgia eating lunch. My classmates and I was talking normally like we always did until one of the lunch monitors told us to be quiet. I didn’t know exactly what was going on at the time. I just knew something serious had just happened. One of my teachers told the class that a plane had hit the Twin Towers. The teachers then turn on the television as all of us watch not exactly understanding what had happen or what the cause of it was. I remember some of the teacher crying while others got on their cells phones trying to contract their families in New York City, but the lines was so busy. That whole day I remember just sitting in class watching
Jean the attack on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center did not happen on September 1, 2011, rather it was September 11, 2001. I clearly remember the day as I was able to see the smoke filled sky from my windows in New York City. Our televisions and radios were not working so most of us did not know what was going on. My husband was late for work because he was waiting for his brother; so they were both late which saved their lives as the train station they were supposed to get off on blew up at the time they were supposed to get there. He made it almost all the way to work when the trains stopped running and he had to walk for hours back home he called me crying as he saw people’s limbs, hands feet with shoes all over the street. Also
I wake up in the morning in my apartment in LA. I turn on the TV and I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears. I was watching live cable news and there was a lot of coverage. I saw that the plane crash into the twin towers. I was frozen and tried to catch each word from the news broadcaster. It felt like a movie, it was unbelievable and unrealistic. They showed a lot of smoke coming from the buildings. It was very chaotic when they shot it up close there were people calling for help, screams,
September 11, 2001 is the day four planes were hijacked and three crashed into important buildings, while the last crashed into a field. And today all the grief, devastation, great sacrifice, and total annihilation will be remembered throughout time as 9/11. To tell you everything would take forever, so instead I will tell you how my mother saw it. It was on a day we all know as 9/11, there was a house on Quimby Way in Sacramento, California. And in this house, my mother was going throughout her day as usual, which most likely involved laundry, dishes, and watching two children by the name of Alanna and Christopher, when she saw the news. “Is this really happening? This can’t be true! Was it an accident? Oh my god, both towers! What would ever make someone do that? This is terrible, why is it even happening in the first place? Why? Why?
In an interview, Skot McDonald talked about his experience on the streets a few blocks from the twin towers, “We started backing away and then had to run from a tidal wave of collapsing debris rushing down the street at us as the north tower collapsed,” (Liddy). McDonald and his friend were photographers and were staying very close to the twin towers. They woke up on September 11 like a normal day. Skot’s parents called him to tell him about the attacks. On 9/11, emergency groups in Manhattan needed to evacuate an area a certain distance around towers to maintain safety for inhabitants and tourists watching in horror.
The day's events started with 19 men getting on 4 different flights. Those 19 men were part of the radical Islamic group Al-Qaeda (History.com staff). The first plane hit at 8:45 am on a bright sunny Tuesday morning (Anderson). The plane killed many people instantly. People on the 80th floor and above were trapped and could not get out. When the plane had hit it took out all the stairways so there was no way of getting down. 18 minutes after the first plane hit tower one a plane flew into the second tower. This time the plane hit directly in the middle of the building, cutting off many of the floors above (History.com staff). The people on the top floors of the towers were faced with a decision. They could either
Arriving at the office, traditional Tim Horton’s coffee in hand I expected a typical morning. Chatting cheerfully with colleagues in the conference room our boss, Barbara sat down ready to start our weekly sales meeting. An administrative assistant came in and said, “Something really bizarre just happened, a plane just flew into one of the twin towers.” Everyone looked puzzled and our boss unsettled, but said, “Okay, well we need to get started,
On September 11, 2001, my life was interrupted when I heard the news of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade
In the morning of September eleventh, two-thousand and one American citizens and visitors, public safety officials, hospital staff, and every other person in the world woke up from their beds expecting a normal day as that of September tenth. People were driving to and from work, getting their kids off to school, grabbing their coffee, and resuming their activities of daily living. At eight forty-six in the morning American Airlines flight eleven struck the North tower of the World trade center, which would collapse at ten twenty-eight. Three minutes past nine, flight one seventy-five would crash into the south tower, and fall one minute before ten am. Flight seventy-seven strikes part of the pentagon, which causes damage and death. Finally at three minutes past ten in the
It felt like forever had passed, but as I kept looking up at the clock, I realized it had only been a few minutes from since we first reached the huge break room tables. My supervisor finally went up to the front of the break room and through his tears, he managed to inform us that hijackers had taken over airplanes and collided them into the Twin Towers in New York City. So much silence filled the room; you could hear a pin drop. Everybody’s blank and puzzled gazes twisted into an afraid and horrified look, like they had just seen a ghost appear. Mr. Smith, the vice president of the company, told us not to fear too much, New York is a long way away from us. Not one person moved an inch. There were looks of horror and shock throughout the break room. A few seconds of quietness passed when finally Mrs. Smith turned on the televisions in the break room. The only thing I saw was smoke, dust, haze, torn clothing, buildings on fire, and people running around trying to take cover. My mind will never forget that picture, it still feels like it happened just yesterday. We all sat completely horrified in fear as everyone pondered if we would
