For the collaboration portion of my project I chose to collaborate with the daycare director and 10 parents of the children who attend the daycare. The role of the director was to inform me and help me to better understand how their policies work and how they respond to policy change. The parent’s role in this collaboration process included giving me feedback and ideas on what changes they would like to see and what they already like about the current policy. As stated prior, depending on the quality of the daycare, the developmental outcomes of children who were in daycare can differ. For children in high quality daycare, they are exposed to a highly social environment where they create multiple peer relationships. The children are encouraged to interact with one another and they learn from each other as well as from the staff members. By being exposed to peer relationships at a young age, children have the opportunity to begin to create their identity to use later in life (Puroila & Estola, 2013).

While working in daycare for many years and listening to parents concerns I would hear one complaint over and over. “Why is my child not potty trained yet?” Parents expect way too much from daycare workers. They expect the daycare to teach it all since they are paying a high price for their child to attend. Personally I did not want daycare workers teaching my son the things that I could teach him. I wanted to be the one to teach him everything, especially things like how to write his name and tie his shoe. When my son was in the preschool room, I asked the pre-k teacher what he should know by the end of pre-k. She gave me a list and he conquered everything on the list before he began pre-k. Many families have both parents working. Child care may be their only option, however I have witnessed too many parents abuse it. Some parents will bring their children into the daycare at 6:30 am and will not pick them up until 6:00 pm. These children do not get the quality time needed with their parents. There were many children who were better off at daycare than at home, so child care was definitely a positive atmosphere for them. Too many times I witnessed a baby take their first step in the nursery. This is a memorable milestone that most parents look forward to. They should be the ones to witness this, not a daycare

Daycare has been a Staple of our community since the mid-nineteen century.they provide working parents an opportunity to continue working while their children are being taken care of. Some parents prefer to stay home with their child which according to studies might be the more beneficial route. In this paper, I will discuss why daycares are bad for a child's development. Then I will discuss how it does not matter what parent stays home with the child.

Conversely, upon doing the volunteer work, I came to find out that the center is not a daycare at all. People confuse it with a daycare because young children stay here while parents and families attend work or school. The center is different from a daycare because there is a curriculum and the staff are teachers. They must obtain a Child Development Credential within one year of hire and must keep up with a personal developmental ladder. The teachers are certified or trained in CPR, first aid, intruders, safety procedures and child abuse and neglect.
