College is right around the corner and senior year will soon be coming to a close. Over the years, I have been exposed to all sorts of standardized tests. Some of these I can prepare for, like the ACT, while others seem to throw some curveballs, like the MAP Assessment. Either way, both tests help measure and determine my ability as a student. No student looks forward to taking exams, but I understand why they are essential for evaluating students. Standardized tests allow colleges and teachers to measure student’s ability as well as push students to study and take things seriously. For this reason, I think the number of them should be maintained. I personally can admit that I am not the best taker, but I am a successful student in the classroom. Often times, my friends, who I consistently get better grades than, receive similar scores on standardized tests as me. This bothers me when it happens, but it also makes me realize that I did not study or take the test as seriously as I should have. I constantly hear people complaining about how they were not satisfied with their ACT scores and that the test is complete bogus because someone with worse grades in class than them got a better score. While frustrating to get a low score, the chances are, that they did not put in as much time studying for the ACT as they would have for a test or final in class. Perhaps one may have a taken an ACT prep class, but unless someone actually sits down and studies for it, they will not get
