Apply the Ethical Decision Making Method at Small Unit Level 158-C-123 Conditions: As a leader faced with a situation which requires you to make an ethical decision. 5. Commit to and implement the best ethical solution. Given all circumstances I believe that contacting the proper authorities is the best course of action. With SFC Sharp on his way out of the unit an investigation needs to be started right away before his PCS. 6. Assess results and modify plan as required. Regardless of the outcome I believe I have done the right thing 1) SGT Day and my other soldiers now know that I will not under any circumstance tolerate such things as this. 2) My actions have likely made an impact on levels higher than the 99th Inf BN such as the Brigade or Division level which could change SOP’s and make the unit more efficient and cautious 3) There is nothing to modify at this point the authorities and my chain of command are involved and the outcome lies with them.
