In the story Beowulf there were many different characteristics that symbolized and made Beowulf a hero/ symbolized heroism. There are many different sections in the book that talked about he was the mighty one and other parts talked about how he was the “evil” one. In the book Beowulf was considered loyal and at that time he also demonstrates a sense of honor. The way that he represents this/ demonstrates this is by promising to Hrothgar by willingly volunteering to kill Grendel. After he had killed Grendel he also volunteered to kill Grendel’s mother.
