Capital Punishment And Life Effects On Society And The Justice System

The killings of numerous people by one single offender is unfortunately a phenomenon society is forced to face with, and the punishment of these offenders can cause great debate among society and the justice system. The criminal justice field is heavily influenced by these rare offenders because there is no concrete course of action that is taken in these cases. The most frequent consequences used for these offenders includes the offender being given a capital punishment charge, or given a life imprisonment charge. Both capital punishment and life imprisonment have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. When speaking of multiple murderers, there are 3 different forms in which one may be speaking of. These can consist of mass murderers, spree murderers, and serial murderers. Many different components come into play when forming a multiple murderer. A person’s biological and psychological factors, along with a person’s environment and life experiences can potentially create the configuration of a multiple murderer. For example, a person who is born into a cycle of violence in which they are abused as children, may actually grow up to exhibit similar abusive patterns as well and contribute to the presence of antisocial personality disorder developing (Siegel 2015). This can have dramatic influence over the course of the person’s life, and how the person chooses to express themselves.
