Some problems that can be resolved effortlessly and efficiently but other obstacles may require a more critical and creative thinking to overcome. When it comes down to thinking to solve problems we depend on our thinking or give some regurgitated answer that we just read. This article or study describes positive academic performance as a direct result of critical learning which is contributed by the acts of doing and thinking. The research in this article proves that students with a more medical background as a major whose style of learning is more of a converging style are more likely to succeed in achieving their academic performance. The relationship between learning styles critical thinking and subject matter or major all played a relevant role. Certain styles of learning where better fits to reach critical thinking than others. For example in one of the case study researchers found “a negative relationship between critical thinking score and divergent learning style and a positive relation between critical thinking score and accommodating styles in this study the focus are students of training teacher” (Ghazivakili, 2014). This article supports the idea of critical thinking being important to our success and educational achievements. Students who were successful in achieving critical thinking through their relationship of their particular learning style where able to strengthen their student performances. It involves the person to have the ability to ascertain claims and make judgments based on well-support evidence or logic rather than anecdote or emotion. 2. In the 21st century exposure to media is an everyday event for most of us. Even at the grocery store, we see magazines and newspapers with eye-catching headings that may not be true. Also, the news is everywhere, and with technology on the rise, we even get news alerts on our phones. The media has taken over society. Most of the stories we read about seem to be true but in reality, are they giving a true insight of what is actually happening? Some of the stories cause people to become blindfolded from reality. This is because the stories that people read or see have a profound impact on shaping our reality rather they are true or not. We see the news about events that are going on in the world; rather they are catastrophic events or devastating events that were done by humans.
Teaching higher order thinking skills is not a recent need. It is apparent that students, at all levels of education, are lagging in problem-solving and thinking skills. Fragmentation of thinking skills, however, may be the result of critical thinking courses and texts. Every course, especially in content subjects, students should be taught to think logically, analyze and compare, question and evaluate.
This article focused on the constant debate concerning the conditions in which students develop the skill of thinking critically. Being able to use critical thinking requires knowledge of facts and concepts about the subject matter. I found this article interesting because I think it is important that students develop critical thinking skills. Most scholarly articles tend to have an abstract that summarizes the papers entirety. Critical thinking is a vital task that must be done in our everyday lives. In “Becoming a Critic Of Your Thinking” found at criticalthinking.org, Dr. Linda Elder and Dr. Richard Paul explain critical thinking as “the disciplined art of ensuring that you use the best thinking you are capable of in any set of circumstances”. Even tough there are many different types of methods to achieve a better quality of critical thinking, Dr. Elder and Dr. Paul discuss four specific ones in the article. All strategies, however, force you to put yourself in an uncomfortable and difficult position to develop a better quality of thinking.
The first concept I learned when enhancing my critical thinking in inductive generalizations is the research design, which is an important concept when using scientific procedure. The order of the research design is first is starts with a question, which are the characteristics of interest concerning a target population (Diestler 2012). The second concept is the hypothesis a speculation about what will be discovered from a research study (Diestler 2012). The third concept would be the sample, which are members of the target population who are studied by a research (Diestler 2012). The fourth concept would be a control group, which is a group of subjects from the sample who get no treatment or a placebo and are thus a test benchmark (Diestler

Prior to this course, I thought that a good paper consisted of an argument supported with solid word choice and consistent organization throughout to guide the reader through each paragraph. My thoughts at this time were more focused the “what” of an argument, but I learned that in order to write a great paper—especially one that involves mediating an argument—it is equally important to focus on the “how” and “why” of the argument. Critical thinking is crucial when trying to find a solution to a problem. It is important to look at a problem from different viewpoints in order to gain an insight of all of the possible solutions. What resonated with me the most in this article is that you must choose when to think creatively. This means that you should make conscious decisions about what kind of thinking to do in any given moment. This concept will aid me by making me think cautiously about decisions that I make in order to obtain many different options before I take action. In having more options, you are able to choose which will cause a greater outcome, allowing you to become more successful.
