Abstract
The intent of this paper is to design and propose a database management system solution to Grandfield College for tracking software installed. I have analyzed the organizational issues and needs and developed conceptual, logical, and physical designs of DBMS solution. In order to implement the solution, substantial research had been done on best practices in design, available products, and the legal and ethical standards to which we must adhere during design. Highlights of Information provided * Installations are not entered until they have completed successfully. * Some installations can be done from network drives. * Some installation require media. * Instructors with administrative rights can check out software and do their own installations. * Instructors with administrative rights must sign an agreement and are responsible for their own support.
Solution
Looking at the requirements of Grandfield College, I have planned a solution with following steps are Step 1. Data Gathering: This task consists of the gathering of spreadsheets currently used by the software management team which includes the list of software, licensing of software, and all faculty and staff computers and what software is installed on each. A Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) is a type of database management system that stores data in the form of related tables. The system does not require many assumptions about how data is related t or how it is to be extracted from the database. The database can be viewed in several forms.

Oracle provides a flexible RDBMS called Oracle7. Using its features, you can store and manage data with all the advantages of a relational structure plus PL/SQL, an engine that provides you with the ability to store and execute program units. The server offers the options of retrieving data based on optimization techniques. It includes security features that control how a database is accessed and used. Other features include consistency and protection of data through locking mechanisms.
In this paper the writer will seek to respond to the questions designated for both scenarios. This paper will list typical fields for each type of data. Provide an example of two relationships that you need to track. This paper will also answer the questions of: Do you need a database system? If not, can Excel® handle the data and the output? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Would you use a personal database or an enterprise database? Explain your answer. Would a decision support system (DSS) be helpful? Explain your answer.
SQL Server has a reputation of being the one of the most trusted relational database management system as it provides great security, reliability, and scalability features. But it is also quite complex and when the size of database grows, the response time required for a query also extends. To overcome such situations, the administrators need to perform a smooth SQL tuning which will ensure that SQL statements will run as fast as possible. There are different aspects related to the program and many possible options to consider if you really want to tune a SQL Server platform.

Databases have long been known around the office water cooler as costly, important, difficult, and multifaceted. Looking at many history timelines and the patterns of computer information technology companies; the database is getting frowned upon. The Database implementation is getting old and showing wear and tear. Every company has data, whether its how many hot dogs they are buying and whom is purchasing to what speed internet should be available in which areas. It just depends on the company’s profit and goals. Since, data is so important how is it stored and kept. Companies are using databases to store their important information that they will later make use of.
In the world of computer science large groups of data that are collected are referred to as databases. When there is a multitude of these databases, a way to manage all of this information is needed. That is where database management systems (DBMS) come into play. “A database management system is a collection of programs that enables users to create and maintain a database. The DBMS is a general-purpose software system that facilitates the processes of defining, constructing, manipulating, and sharing databases among various users and applications” [1]. Analyzing these database managements systems could potentially have huge benefits since companies could determine when and where to sell products, track certain trends, and possibly predict future outcomes.
However, this mission could fail essentially with increasing amount of data. Therefore, my boss would like me to start a database management project that will accommodate this program. I would suggest using the Microsoft Access software for this project because it’s cost effective, simple to operate, and one of commonly known source among other business entities. In order to create a database management, I would first analyze the data, identify data types, create tables, assign attributes such as primary keys, set up relationships between tables, input the data, create a design, build a query, generate reports, and run final assessment.
In the initial stages of evolution of databases, relational databases systems was designed as a solution to the problems of flat file databases. A relational database stores data in multiple table. This technique helped to overcome the issues like data duplication, data noise and inconsistency which ensured that the data is entered and stored only once. Later as the data grew in size, it became a challenging task to handle such a significantly large amount of data. Key features like high data velocity, data variety, data volume and data complexity are few important reasons which the traditional database systems failed to handle successfully. Data mining is the process of extracting useful knowledge from large databases or data warehouses. It can be also said as a set of mathematical functions and data manipulation techniques to extract useful data from databases. Data mining can also be said as knowledge discovery process in other words. It explores a large collection of data into a meaningful patterns and rules based on the queries provided by users using data mining query language.
