Oracle provides a flexible RDBMS called Oracle7. The server offers the options of retrieving data based on optimization techniques. It includes security features that control how a database is accessed and used. Other features include consistency and protection of data through locking mechanisms.
Oracle applications may run on the same computer as the Oracle Server. Alternatively, you can run applications on a system local to the user and run the Oracle Server on another system (client-server architecture).

For this week’s paper I have chosen to do a comparison between IBM’s DB2 database management system (DBMS) product and Oracle. Realistically, making such a comparison is akin to discussing religion with friends. Each person will have their own biases based on their own experiences. Looking for an unbiased opinion is much like looking for the Holy Grail, every bit as speculative and subjective with the results jaundiced by the outlook of the reporter (Lim, 2002).
There are many restrictions on the write and read operations in database management system. These restrictions show the measurable effect on the each and every transaction in the database management system and which are due to some specific operations. The transactions are not only read that data from database all the time but sometime some transaction need to delete the data items from database and create the data items into database. Such type of transactions show high impact on concurrency control. So, we are analyzing how those transaction bias the concurrency control in database management system.

IBM DB2 is a relational database management server developed by International Business Machine Corporation (IBM). It runs various platforms including Linux, UNIX and windows machines. DB2 conducted through GUI Interface and command line prompt. GUI is basically a java client support multi-platform while command line can be conveniently scripted and automated but requires vast knowledge of specific product. IBM DB2 does support XQuery and all SQL queries and statements. It also provide XML data storage implementation for more rapid access by XQuery. One of the most vital feature of DB2 database system is error processing which return error data information after every API call for SQL statement.
