Today the American Dream has a very broad meaning. Lots of different people dream for different things. Some people want to own a nice car and others want to have a family, but almost everyone in our society today wants a successful career. For example, everything our nation does while we are in our youth is to prepare us for our future jobs. We do things like attend school for thirteen years to prepare us for more schooling. The additional schooling is supposed to help us with our future jobs. In our society today people are not afraid to go through multiple careers to find the perfect one. Through everybody’s eyes is their own version of the American Dream. Whether it’s the stereotypical dream with a good job, a family, and a house with a white picket fence, or it could be just getting by at the end of the month financially. The American Dream doesn’t have a specific image but rather a particular mindset. Lots of people have a goal in their life that they have to work hard to be successful towards that goal, but in most cases that goal may be unrealistic.

The “American Dream” is a complicated topic to discuss. It has many different meanings depending on who you’re talking to. To me it means to have a healthy and happy family with a nice house and to do what I love to do. For many people their dream or even my dream is not attainable. I do not think that the “American Dream” is attainable for everyone. Some people do not have the perseverance or are not born into a situation where they can get an education. Some people may have that drive or the education or talent needed to accomplish what they want.

Everyone 's idea of The American Dream is to able to be happy and successful through hard work and determination.

The American Dream is the pinnacle of happiness that can be achieved living in America. Prosperity, a safe future, and freedom are the ideal characteristics of the American Dream in my opinion. Everyone should have an equal opportunity to achieve their own version and rise above any circumstance, whether it be big or small. Everyone deserves a happy and fulfilled life. Anyone can realize the American Dream by working hard, being optimistic, and focusing on goals that are set to get ahead and achieve success. It requires a great deal of perseverance and effort, but with an optimistic outlook and a sense of purpose, anything is possible.

In general, the idea of the American Dream is to achieve prosperity and everlasting success through hard work and dedication. Although this is the norm, many people have their own unique idea of what the American Dream is based on how they were raised and what they believe success is. For one person success could be to live in a mansion, while for others it may be to live in a cardboard box. An example of the general idea is in the novel Spare Parts by Joshua Davis, where four teens are out to chase after the American Dream. While the example in the novel is very general, I have my own vision of what the American Dream is.

In my opinion “the American dream” is just an international, economic belief of what the perfect life looks like that many seem to think can only be achieved here, in America. People say in America, there are countless opportunities because there is so much freedom. The barometer that measures the American dream is “success” and “happiness” and how much of this are you willing to accomplish for yourself. Since success and happiness can mean different things to different people, our ideas of what the ideal life looks like never really seems to match that of someone else’s. What one may think of as the perfect life may not appear so perfect to another. Some people chase joy and happiness while others chase money and success. Which, at times, can be influenced by those closest to us, like family and friends.

To some the American dream can be making a lot of money or to be really famous or to just find a good job. According to Esther Goosens “the american dream is coming from another country, trying to achieve what you want, there’s not so many boundaries… that’s a lot of freedom and that makes me happy.” Also according Shayla Harris in “Defining the American dream” more people think they achieved their american dream now (2009) than had 4 years ago. To me the American Dream is far-fetched. It's a notation put in peoples’ mind that an individual can achieve anything someone he or she sets his or her mind to do. Call me a pessimist, but “The American Dream” is overrated. When I was little, I aspired to be a princess who lived in a castle with a handsome prince and live happily ever after; I aspired to be this until I was 13. Obviously, I let my dream get the best of me (you will never see me letting my preteen daughter make a fool of herself). I was upset I couldn't be what I wanted to be. There is a huge difference between imagination and dreams.

The American Dream is an idea that most people have heard of, but there are a lot of different views on it. Everyone has different thoughts on the Dream because everyone has a different dream. Even though everybody has a different dream, most of those dreams can be narrowed down to one thing; success. To me The American Dream is the idea that lets everyone has the chance to follow their dreams; whether that be a career or a lifestyle. It also allows people to have push through the hard times and it gives them something good to look towards and work for in their everyday lives.

The American dream is that anyone can start from nothing and turn themselves into something, with the ability achieving their wildest desires.

My personal American Dream is essentially to just be successful enough in life, so that I could take care of myself. I do not need to be rich to do this, and to be honest I would be content with just a slightly above average paying job. As long as it would be enough to cover my expenses I would be fine. If I was able to leave work one day and pay for some take-out food as I go home with my own money I would know that I’ve accomplished my American Dream, because I would be supporting myself without the help of others.

American dream is the dream to live a free life and do whatever someone wants. George and Lennie in Of Mice and Men have a dream. George and Lennie's dream is to do just that. They want to save their money to buy a house. They want a couple of acres, some cows, and pigs. All they want to is live off the fat of the land with no one telling them what to do. They want to make their own food and just live the like they want. That is a great example of the American dream. Most dreams consist on being free and doing whatever they want and that is what their dream had. The American dream can be different to anyone and this is a great example of one.

The American Dream is one of the most distinguishable things about America. When you think of America, this is what you think of. Everyone has their own opinion of what the American Dream is, based on their life experiences. The American Dream to me is being able to overcome the things that are hard in life, turn it into success, and be able to help others with your success. The person that I think of that encaptures my version of the American Dream is Audrey Hepburn. She went through a lot of hardships before becoming the iconic star that she is today.
