Output Devices a. Monitor , Speaker, Printers ( different types) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I. Introduction The computer will be of no use unless it is able to communicate with the outside world. Input/Output devices are required for users to communicate with the computer. In simple terms, input devices bring information INTO the computer and output devices bring information OUT of a computer system. These input/output devices are also known as peripherals since they surround the CPU …show more content…
Users of Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications commonly use the light pens to directly draw on screen. (g) Touch Screen It allows the user to operate/make selections by simply touching the display screen. Common examples of touch screen include information kiosks, and bank ATMs. (h)Digital camera A digital camera can store many more pictures than an ordinary camera. Pictures taken using a digital camera are stored inside its memory and can be transferred to a computer by connecting the camera to it. A digital camera takes pictures by converting the light passing through the lens at the front into a digital image. Figure 6: The Digital camera (i) The Speech Input Device The “Microphones - Speech Recognition” is a speech Input device. To operate it we require using a microphone to talk to the computer. Also we need to add a sound card to the computer. The Sound card digitizes audio input into 0/1s .A speech recognition program can process the input and convert it into machine-recognized commands or input. 5 Figure 7: The Microphone III. Output Devices (a) Monitor Monitor is an output device that resembles the television screen and uses a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) to display information. The monitor is associated with a keyboard for manual input of characters and displays the information as it is keyed in. It also displays the program or application output. Like the television, monitors are also available in different sizes. (b) Liquid Crystal Display
In order to replace human senses, computers needed input devices for perception and data entry.
Input: An input is when a computer receives data from external hardware such as a mouse, keyboard
Answer: hardware and software is the core of the computer without it computer cannot perform its task. The PC contains various electronic components that we are able to see when we open it. By only pc by itself cannot perform their task on their own. Our PC needs something to get instructed to set it on where we need software to perform it. There are six different component of hardware to function the computer .The first one is central processing unit(CPU )it is the brain of the
a. You input information perhaps via a keyboard or mouse to the computer and you receive output via a monitor or printer or some such device
Such devices include Teletypewriters (TTY), which can relay typed text to and/or from one impaired person to another, Voice Carry Over (VCO), which allows a person who is hard of hearing or deaf to use one’s voice to receive responses from a person who is hearing via the operator’s typed text. There are also more self-explanatory modes of technology such as video conferencing and captioned telephones available to assist in communicating.
The hardware requirements are crucial to the system development, consisting of physical servers and other peripherals. These components are the legs and limbs of the system. The hardware section of the system will accept input, and process the input in a way specified by the design, and returns an output (Blundell, 2008).
This output hardware sends information in the form of images, sound, or various other tangible imagery usually, to some form of input hardware on another system. It is not designed to receive data only to send. The most familiar of these devices is the visual display or computer monitor. These monitors are usually synonymous with a computer and every system is equipped with or able to connect to a Visual Display Unit. Projectors, audio systems, printers, and faxes are all examples of output hardware.
3. You typed “abcd” but the locally attached printer prints garbled text. How do you go
Input operation is external instructions that are put into computer data form. Two examples of Input would be a video camera and the videos another would be a keyboard and the characters that are used.
Generally, there are two key forms of monitor interfaces that should be highly considered in the process of designing different computer applications namely the multi-touch screen interface and the mouse-driven interface. The controlling actions that are carried out by different computer users tend to have different preferences when it comes to the use of different computer applications uses (Dearden, 2008). As such, the application of the multi-touch screen gives computer users an opportunity to interact with the computer applications via a touch screen that will give them a chance to tap, swipe, long tap, and pinch the screens for purposes of performing their required
Input devices is mainly refereed to devices which are used to t provide data to the computer system in order for the computer to process. Without input devices, a computer user would not be able to feed instructions to, or send and store information in, a computer. Some of the example of Input Devices are as following:
1. Software – is to a computer as brain is to a human body. Hardware is functioned by the software. It collects data, organizes them and carries procedures.
4.4 Improvements Touch screen is user friendly and can increase flexibility thus become very popular among daily life products. Until recently, consumers cannot satisfy by the touch screen which can only sense one point of contact at a time, thus companies start to change to use the multi-touch screen technology. The first human-input multi-touch system was developed in 1982 in the University of
-computers- we use them to many work related tasks. Word processor programs are used to type up notes and minutes and to produce reports and communications, while spreadsheet programs will be used in account keeping. Computers allow access to the Internet, which provides both internal and external communication tools in the form
When looking at things such as watching TV, browsing through the Internet or even looking at your mobile phone, it seems like something simple. However, this is not the case. Processes related to how information is received through devices are very complex, these are known as Display Output Devices. They are responsible for receiving data in different forms: images, videos, numbers, words, and even sounds. Examples of these devices include televisions, computer screens, mobiles, printers and cameras. This paper will discuss the complexity of different output devices, functions they carry out, and how the functions are carried out. (Output device, Wikipedia, 2014).
