The religion of Islam came about during the seventh century when the prophet Muhammad allegedly began receiving his “divine revelations.” The teachings of Muhammad were not widely received at first but began gaining popularity as time wore on, and his followers began to be known as Muslims. In this paper, while summarizing the religion of Islam, I’ll make it clear that these teachings are unbiblical and inconsistent. In the seventh century in a city in the Middle East called Mecca, a prophet named Muhammad began receiving “visions” from Gabriel, and angel sent from Allah, his god. He wrote down all these visions in a book he called the Koran. He began to spread these visions around the city, hoping to gain followers for Allah, and was met little to no response. In fact nobles in Mecca began to oppose Muhammad and he was forced out of the city. He fled to Medina where he gained a bigger following. People all around the world are now followers of the iconic religion flowing from the very public figure of the prophet Muhammad. The teachings of Muhammad consisted of the Five Pillars of Islam. He taught them wherever he went and they consisted of these five things: First, Shahada, which says that there is only one god (Allah) and Muhammad, is the messenger of that god. This was an essential confession for all Muslims and new converts to the religion.

The spread of Islam throughout the world was among the most significant worldwide movements in history. Beginning as the faith of a small community of believers in Arabia in the seventh century, Islam rapidly became one of the major world religions. The core beliefs and culture of this faith is the belief that Muhammad (570-632), a respected businessman in Mecca, a commercial and religious center in western Arabia, received revelations from God that have been preserved in the Qur'an. The core of Islam remains the same today after 1396 years. Islam still translates to “submission” and Muslims still live by the Qur’an and follow the 5 Pillars of Islam. Islam spread through the world rapidly and is now the 2nd largest religion in the world. When the last prophet and messenger of Allah, Muhammad passed away in 632 A.D. was the start of the spread of Islam. The Muslim empire conquered many countries in the world and many people heard about them and their religion and many came to believe in the religion of islam.
The religion of Islam has become a controversial issue in today’s 21st century. In spite of excessively negative representations by Western propaganda, increasing numbers of the population are pursuing to learn more about the wonderful religion of Islam. More frequently than not, these people are becoming more pleasantly startled by the product of their exploration. In fact, increasing numbers of people are embracing Islam nowadays then they did prior to the horrific attacks on September 11th, 2001; which evoked much attention to misconceptions about Islam and Muslims. Yet, there does endure an abundant amount of misconception and misinterpretations about Islam, frequently invigorated by political policies which reckon their interest’s to patronage Islam 's enemies. Islam is a religion which elucidates the way of life and is the second largest religion after Christianity, with approximately one-fifth of the world 's population and is currently the fastest growing religion. Muslims are existent all around the world and come from diverse nationalities, cultures and races. However, Islam instills that all people are principally equal no matter the differences (colour, class, culture, etc.) as long as they are peaceful and law-abiding citizens. The behaviour of particular erroneous groups or individuals outside mainstream Islam cannot be accredited to Islamic beliefs and practices as correspondingly hostility in North Ireland or illegal mafia activities being attributed
The Five Pillars of Islam are lifelong acts of worship, which includes faith, prayer, almsgiving (charity), fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca.
Islam was thus born and Mohammad wrote about the revelations into a book that is known today as the Qur’an. Within the Qur’an, there are many stories about how Muslims are supposed to live their lives and the way it guides them to the divine revelation. There are five pillars of practice in Islam and must be taken seriously in order to be considered a true Muslim. The first pillar is the testimony of faith which means that there is only one God and no one else besides him. The second pillar is prayer and Muslims pray five times a day and face towards Mecca each time they pray. The third pillar is giving or zakat, which is when Muslims give to the poor and those less fortunate. The fourth pillar is fasting during the month of Ramadan. The last and final pillar is the pilgrimage to Mecca that Muslims must make at least once in their life. Islam is a respected religion and just like Judaism is still practiced
The development of Islam – 7th century C.E. – This religion began when the angel Gabriel appeared to Muhammad and told him to spread the word of God. At this time, many people worshipped many gods/idols. Muhammad was thought of as the “one true prophet” by his followers. There are five pillars of Islam: the shahada – profession of faith, salat – ritual prayer, sawm – fasting, zakat – giving alms, and hajj – pilgrimage to mecca. Muhammad’s preaching about there only being one god got him kicked out of Mecca in 622 C.E. where he and his followers ended up in Medina. In Medina, the Islamic community grew into a small emoire-like group. In 630, the Muslims took back Mecca. After Muhammad’s death, the religion continued to grow with many disputes

When a Muslim recites this they proclaim Allah is the only God and Muhammad is the prophet, they personally believe this is true, and they will obey all the commitments of Islam in their life (Five Pillars of Islam). This is known as the Shahadah. To become a Muslim, an individual must recite this saying three times in front of one witness, loud, with sincerity, and full understanding. The Shahadah is written on the flag of Saudi Arabia, the state that contains Islam’s holiest places (Five Pillars of Islam). The Salat is the second pillar and it consists of performing ritual prayers in the proper way five times each day (Five Pillars of Islam).
As history continues, many religions have had an over powering effect on western civilization. When the 5th century arose, the religion, Islam, had an extremely important impact on the civilization. Muhammad, an Arabic prophet founded Islam and began to introduce it the people of his time. Diplomacy, violence, warfare, public laws, and Arabic tradition played a crucial role in the building of the Islamic religion. These important aspects helped shape and build the Islam religion that is now one of the world’s most widely practiced religions.
The five pillars of Islam are the basics of the Muslim life. The first pillar is called the Shahada or Witness. It is a profession of faith that states simply that “there is no god but God (Allah), and Muhammad is the messenger of God.” Someone becomes a Muslim by stating this declaration of faith. As Muhammad was the prophet of Islam, His words and those of Allah are represented in the Quran. The Quran is a compilation of rules, poetry, beliefs, and meanings of Islam. There are some fifteen basic concepts of the Islam and are explained within the Quran. There is not an exact list of these concepts, but are the basic meanings expressed in the book.
