Literary Analysis Of I Am Malala

It began as an ordinary day in Mingora, Pakistan, for a young girl returning home from school on her school bus. Suddenly, a masked gunman rushed into the bus and shouted, “Who is Malala?” Her friends on the bus looked back at her, and in the blink of an eye she was shot on the left side of her face. This incident was the spark that ignited a call for change in education around the world. Malala Yousafzai was the face of this change. She made significant contributions to female education rights by being an education activist and urging children to speak out and fight for their rights. She forever changed the lives of Pakistani girls who today benefit from free education and resources with numerous schools around their country.

Malala Yousafzai is a women and children activist born in Mingora, Pakistan on July 12th 1997. While growing up, she began advocating for the right to education among girls . Due to her persistence and determination in her activism, on October 9th 2012 Malala was shot on her way home from school by a gunman. She survived the incident and became more passionate towards her fight for education for young females. This incident gave her popularity and in 2013 Malala became nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, which she won in 2014. Malala became the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (Yousafzai 481). Due to the problems that young females had been facing in Pakistan and worldwide, it was essential to understand her education, the oppression by the Taliban, the devotion towards her religion named Islam and activism on the basis of the novel ‘I Am Malala’.

I am Malala is a heroic story about a young woman who stood up for what she wanted. This auto-biography is based on a teenager named Malala Yousafzi who stood up for girls education in her home country Pakistan. She also went against the Taliban because she didn't think it was right of what they were doing to her innocent village. When Malala was born very few people came to congratulate her parents because the birth of a girl is seen as a failure of the parents in her culture. She was born and raised in Sway Valley, Northeastern Pakistan. Swat Valley has beautiful scenery which attracts a lot of tourism until the Taliban took over the valley. Malala’s parents Ziauddin and Toor Pekai were very kind humble people from the mountain villages. Malala’s father was a very well educated man who grew up studying poetry and literature. He also started the Khushal School a three years before Malala was born. ”My father started the school three years before I was born, and he was a teacher, accountant, and principal—as well as a janitor, handyman, and chief mechanic.” (Chapter 1, Page 20) In Malala’s culture, girls are refused an education or even simply knowing how to read and write. Her father helped girls by starting the school and making a big influence on girls. Malala is truly a hero throughout this paper you will see how she changed everything.

The theme of family/friendship is very present in Malala’s biography. Her family always have her back and support her for her fight against the Taliban's oppression and governments incompetence. Her father especially encouraged her to fight for what she believed in. Malala and her father have a special bond the way she puts it is “All children are special to their parents, but to my father I was his universe.” ( Yousafzai 246). Malala Yousafzai is a young woman speaking as a young education advocate at the Youth Takeover of the United Nations. This was her first speech since she had been shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan on October 9th, 2012. The Taliban targeted her because she was blogging about her own right, and the right of all women, to an education. Her purpose is to inform the people of the denial of education to children around the world. She is also trying to persuade her audiences to join her campaign in ensuring all children gain their right to education before the end of 2015. I remember Malala, as a very talented young woman with a great deal of virtue, when she has her mind set on something there is no stopping her, for example when the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley in Pakistan, where she lived with her family, their was one girl and the only girl who repudiated against them and refused to keep quiet on her rights and the rights of all people to acquire an education. Malala Yousafzai, She tries to bring new light to an old world country.

Throughout the span of the human race, many people and organization have stood up for the right of others. Some scientists raced against time to produce vaccines that saved millions if not billions of lives. On the other hand, many speakers traveled across the globe to promote individual’s freedom and rights. In wartime, more people regardless of their backgrounds worked tirelessly to save lives of many individuals who faced genocide. Undoubtedly, history has foretold that at any moment in time, people are working tremendously so that other people may have a better world to live. Regarding education, Malala Yousafzai, known as Malala, has put all her efforts in promoting education to every child living on earth. She was a target of an insurgent group, but now she is the savior of many children. Thanks to her works, many children now have an education which they have never once dreamed they would have. Her moral courage will be a legacy that she leaves for humans.

The book “I am Malala” tells the story of eleven year old girl that campaigned and fought for woman’s rights and for the Taliban to allow them to go to school. Malala had an extremely tight nit family bond along with very supportive parents. She always had their support especially from her father Ziauddin. I believe that if I had a daughter so young that wanted to make such a big difference in her country I would stand by her one-hundred percent and push her to set out her dreams. That is exactly what her parents did, they always encouraged her to do whatever she put her mind to even now in present day.

Five features a has are  that it is not linear it does not follow a specific timeline it can jump from one time period to another, it is emotionally charged because it is a testimony of what happened to the individual, it is very subjective because it is told through the perspective of the writer, a memoir is politically charged, a memoir is also able to raise consciousness of society, culture, and the government. I think I Am Malala fits into this genre because in I Am Malala  Malala starts off talking about the day she was born then it progress to when she is going to school then jumps back to before she was born talking about the struggles that her father went through to get an education and the struggle to start his own school. Malala Yousafzai’s is a women’s activist for youth education, but primarily for girls. On July 12th, 2013, she delivered an address at the Youth Takeover of the United Nation. This speech is powerful, eye opening and deserves to be heard. She is addressing two audiences, one being the people that follow her same belief for education, some of those people would be at this convention and the other being the people that disagree with her purpose, like the Taliban. Yousafzai was in 1997, in Mingora, Pakistan, which used to be a popular tourist destination. As of now the region has been taken into control of the Taliban. Her father is also an anti- Taliban activist and educator. She, her father and tons of others just want thing to be like they used to. Where they had a safe neighborhood and didn't have to worry about violence. She delivered a speech riddled with excellent use of rhetoric to convey her argument. Malala’s whole purpose for her fight for education of the youth is so that it will stop future violence, She displays this purpose in her speech by using outward focus, compassion and personal experience to her audiences.

In “I am Malala,” Malala Yousafzai explores the idea that education empowers women to stand up for their rights, so that they can have a positive future.

There are many type of books; however, each and every one of them delivers life lessons. I am Malala was written by a 11-year-old girl who experienced a life threatening situation with the Taliban. The author, Malala Yousafza, wrote this book based on her knowledge and experience of her life making this a writing technique called a memoir. This novel represents the many themes, which include education, feminism, and sexual equality. Malala used this set of themes by writing of her experiences during the time she lived there. As well as the different stereotypes of people around the world of the problems occurring in that country.

Malala Yousafzai begins her story as a young girl who lives in Swat Valley, Pakistan as a teenager she becomes extremely outspoken about her beliefs of women’s rights and education. In the process of standing up for what she believes in the Taliban targets her, tracks her down, and shoots her in the head. I Am Malala, written by Malala Yousafzai and Christina Lamb is an autobiography about Malala’s life from when she was a small girl to her teenage years. Malala, the protagonist of this story may be described as determined, brave, and intelligent.

The outstanding novel, I Am Malala: The girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Taliban, was written by Malala Yousafazai and Christina Lamb. Published by Back Bay Books at New York in June 2015, it takes place in The Swat Valley of Pakistan from 1997 to 2013 and mainly discusses the issue of women’s rights. This novel argues that women all over the world should have the right to an education, including many strengths such as cultural detail and emotion as well as weaknesses such as many Urdu words and complicated passages about global affairs. It demonstrates these strengths and shortcomings all throughout the book in even doses, resulting in a very intruiging story.

In November of 2016, Americans will have a unique opportunity to vote for a woman for President for the first time. Many will not, for reasons related to her policies, her party, or even her past. But others will not solely because of her gender. In my opinion, gender, like race or sexuality, is irrelevant as a qualification for running for office. Others will disagree, and disagree rather forcefully. There will come a time when someone will tell me not to vote for this woman. When that time comes, will I be able to make my voice heard? Will I have the courage of my convictions?
