In the United States NAVY, military bearing is the root in which every service member practices in order to carry out good discipline and ethics throughout ones military careers. Army leaders must balance the link between the Army’s culture and it’s climate and institutional practices. When there is a proper balance it has a huge impact on the mindset of the Army’s Soldiers. Their actions or inactions impacts the five key attributes of the profession, and the four fields of expertise, and have long term effects on the Army’s culture and climate. These actions influence Soldiers’ perceptions that they are serving professional who have answered the call of service to the republic, it is important that Soldiers understand that their role is a calling and not just a job.

Maintaining your military bearing is the similar as being professional, But also has another definition to it, it means you are a soldier and should act like one at all times (being professional). Also it states that if you act unprofessional you are displaying to the world that the military is unprofessional. This is why you must maintain professional at all times cause you are the face of the military. Perception is reality in a lot of peoples eyes, that is a big deal in the military. In search of being professional you must, and I quote "cross all your T's and dot all your I's".

I was directed to write an essay on the importance of military bearing. Ironically, this tasking was due to a lapse in my personal ability to maintain and display my own military bearing. Lastly, the third phrase that has great influence in my leadership style is, “I will earn their respect and confidence as well as that of my Soldiers.” (NCO Creed) I believe earning respect starts from respecting others first. One of the respect techniques I live by is to treat others how you want to be treated. Respecting others will increase the quality of morale and positive environment.

Ordinary Soldiers have been the most significant part of an armies’ structure throughout military history. They have not only been essential in the continued development of warfare but have also shown great determination when facing the hardest struggles in combat and an ability to complete their objectives. However, even though the ordinary soldier continues to fight and to carry out his orders, he is put through some of the hardest traumas and hardships that the world has ever seen or known. As a result of this, people question why soldiers continue to risk themselves physically and mentally in the affairs of others. Although soldiers have been put through extreme ordeals in combat throughout military history, the ordinary soldier continues to fight for his sense of duty to his country, his belief in the cause, and his comrades in arms; furthermore, these reasons transformed throughout the centuries, as a result of influences such as military, political, and societal.

I really do agree with you, Tyler. One of the biggest issues I had be in the Army is when a leader would tell you that there is this one stander, but they themselves do not do this one stander. Often when a soldier is get in trouble one of the leaders would punishes the group of the solider that was with the individual, and not the leader that trained them. If someone is going to lead me in to a situation, I need to have confidents in their ability to lead. I need to feel comfortable that I can trust them otherwise they become a distraction.
