My Writing Experience Essay

Throughout my experiences as a writer, I would say the issue I have faced the most is being well-organized. While writing essays I can begin to write on a topic but it gets difficult for me as I start to discuss or argue on my topic which can cause confusion to readers as they read my writings. It is a setback that I have adapted into my style of writing and has needed improvement in order to have a strong structured foundation academically. Over the past years as I encountered different perspectives from teachers that have led me to incorporate their style of writing that I have adjust to my own. Although writing is essential in our lives like water and in which it is use to express our emotions on a piece of paper, it can also let some of us as me with a traumatic experience. Even though, writing is fundamental to our lives, it can also leave you with a bad taste, for example; I used to and still consider myself having terrible handwriting and difficulties in starting my essays. That at the end, I know it will help me throughout my career if I perfection it.

Writing allows me to express my views as a student. I have always enjoyed writing well as speaking. By writing first, then preparing and reciting notes, I am able to push through the nervous jitters when I have to speak at work. Writing first, then speaking will help you get a clear message across (Young, 2006). For me, being able to write has been healing. As I am sure most families experience issues of some kind, my family had many issues while I was a child. So, writing was and still is a tool for me to get things out and off of mind. A few friends of mine say they do not like to write and would not do it unless they had to. I encourage them to find something they want to learn about, then read about it and the writing will come. We can become passionate in writing about what we are interested in learning about (Quinn, 2015). Well, I do have to write for this class and for school in general. But, I choose to view it as an extension of what I already like to do, which is express my thoughts and understandings about what I read or study. The only difference with school is that someone is telling me what I have to read or study. This can make the learning less passionate, but if I can find one little thing that I can grab on to, it seems to provide me with a purpose to write.

I am very excited for this semester with you as my English 101 professor. I am proficient in both reading and writing, but I hope to grow and improve my skills with your help.

My personal experience, as a writer, is limited only to the days it was required of me, which led to a lack of understanding of a writer’s style and a bad reputation and relationship with past English educators. I never really enjoyed writing, I but always admired reading the works of famous writers, who had the gift of self-manifestation. However, I always seemed to complete the task without any sort of passion or interest. Writing was simply a required aspect of earning a grade. I felt limited in my ability to be creative or interesting to my readers. My writing seemed to lack imagination and vitality. While I was enthralled in reading a good book, writing was an unsatisfying effort and a chore. Expressing my voice and inspiring others

I never really liked writing as a child, my handwriting did and still does resemble a drunken preschooler, I much preferred reading. That said, when I did start having to write more complex things, my vocabulary was picked exclusively from cartoons and hardy boy mysteries. Later into my teenage years, I started reading more philosophy and literature that, paired with a superstar tag team of very talented English teachers, made me really enjoy writing. I started looking forward to writing essays, especially persuasive essays, mostly to talk with people who didn't share my view. Moving forward, I don't think my enjoyment of writing will diminish for a long time, and I can see myself writing papers (mostly for Red rocks) for many years to come.

Writing is no were near my strongest subject but everyone has their weak and strong subjects when it comes to education. I strive to become a phenomenal writer one day, to become a great writer requires a lot of work. This work I would have to do demands for a great amount of consistency. My writing experience has been filled with a lot of learning and recognizing that I still need help. I am not at all the best writer. I have yet to grasp the full knowledge of writing an academic paper. Some things I remember from high school, but other things are new to me. Focusing on my weaknesses is key while acknowledging me strengths. As a writer, I can find good research and come up with transition sentences but I tend to add extra information that is not relevant to the essay and I struggle with in-text citations.

I’m a practiced freelance writer and editor, with experience working for numerous clients and sites. I have authored numerous blog posts, research papers, critiques, psychology and psychiatry, technical scientific articles, product descriptions, press releases, health articles and more.

In the modern age, many people live in the United States, a culturally diverse country. Most people that I have come across here, especially students, believe that writing is a gift of God received at birth. "I am not a good writer!" they say. It is not uncommon for me or my friends to often find themselves struggling with writing a paper, or even a simple email. However, I feel, that we all forget to acknowledge the fact that writing is a challenging task and requires practice. Even a good writer can have a hard time in expressing himself. No one is a qualified writer from birth. It is an individual's dedication and hard work that makes him better in his skills of writing. I often describe myself as an affectionate, animal lover, outspoken, but timid at the same time. I have never described myself as a writer the reason being I’ve never been skillful at expressing myself on paper. At first, as I start to prepare to write I think to myself this is it, this will be the greatest essay I’ve ever typed, this will be the greatest statement ever written. My mind quickly changes when I realize that I have nothing to put down on paper. It took me 2 years to finally take the English courses I was required to take at the beginning of my college years. It frustrates me to look at a blank word document and the blinking arrow cursor, it literally drives me insane. When I took my first developmental writing course, in order to take English 1, it bothered me seeing how fast people could type their ideas in comparison to me.

As a child born to parents still growing up themselves, I believe many teachers did not see the potential in me, maybe they thought I would be lacking in initiative due to my parent's irresponsibility. Although with that being said, my parents pushed me to be better, they sat with me many nights to help me read a book I was struggling with or to rewrite my assignments more neatly. While any may think having young parents is a disadvantage, I grew up as my parents did and I think it has given me a more realistic view of my goals.

My grandmother always told me that education was the key to all success. When I was a little girl, she taught me how to read bible stories and children books. She also taught me basic writing skills. When I was in elementary school, it was always easy for me to read and write, but that changed once I got in high school. Once I got in 10th grade, I always struggled with writing papers. I always felt that everyone could write essays with no problem, while it took me ten minutes to write one sentence. My mind would always go blank when it came to writing papers. I used to be confidence when it came to writing, but now I feel that I will never be able to write a good essay.

My desire to interact with people, understand their experiences, and express my views and ideas through writing, stems from childhood exposure to a wide variety of literature and cultures.

Who comes to mind when defining an exceptional writer? King, Shakespeare, or perhaps Hemingway? Far away from these talented writers I find myself defining a good writer as someone with passion. Throughout the course of my writing experience I feel I’ve transitioned from being inarticulate to being open minded and finally leading me to have a goal on my fluency and creativity.

For as long as I can remember, reading has always been a hobby of mine. Both of my parents encouraged me at a young age to pick up books, and they furthered this by reading to me often. They influenced my interest in fiction and nonfiction, and when my sister was born, I would do the same for her. Even though I still like to read, I have found more hobbies and my interests have changed. Nevertheless, I still have the same enjoyment reading my favorite literature that I had when I was little. Also, I have developed a fondness for writing in the last few years as well.
