Formula 1 Formula 1 is the top tier of racing. Formula 1 is the ultimate test of speed, endurance, and focus. Teams from all over the world come together to put their drivers and their cars to the test. Formula 1 had a television audience of 425 million people during the 2014 season. Formula 1 racing has not only been a sport for racing enthusiast but has also had a huge impact on automobile competition. The first Formula One World Championship race was at the Silverstone Circuit in England. The cars were built for high top speed. The cars were very dangerous and the races were held with no medical professionals. The death tolls in races were high, 13 drivers were killed in F1 cars in the first decade. Now all cars must have a fire extinguishing system that will activate in the cockpit and engine bay in case of a fire. It must be able to be activated by the driver when they are seated normally with his seat belts and function even if the car’s electrical system fails or if the car is flipped over. Most of the worlds most prestigious car manufacturers are highly involved in the F1 community. Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Renault, and many more companies face off in who has the best technology and the best drivers. Even Red Bull has their own team. As of right now Red Bull is known for having the fastest growing team in the F1 community. Ferrari is the number one team. They have the most podium finishes and the most championship titles out of all 11 teams. They have 531 podium finishes 16 championship titles. The Red Bull racing team was established in 2005 has 135 podium finishes and 4 championship titles. Scuderia Ferrari was established in 1950.
