It is easy to reject change just because I have grown accustomed to the way the work is being performed. Without examining the new way, I am not giving it a chance. Rejecting change delays progress and wastes time and effort. To overcome this hindrance, reactions should be set aside, and the change should be judged critically based on the idea. Conformity is thinking the way others from the group believe to avoid being different. I also work with people in higher rank than mine. Sometimes it is hard to think differently than them because I fear being different or sounding stupid. To overcome this hindrance, thinking should be based on evidence and not on what others think.

Conformity is a concept that has been heavily researched in the field of social psychology. Conformity is defined as a change in behavior, beliefs, and attitudes due to group pressure perceived as real (encompassing the presence of others) or imagined (encompassing the pressure of social standards) (Myers, 2010, p. 192). The concept of conformity is a powerful influence on the tendency for people to arrange their thoughts, perspectives, and ideas with others, especially when in a group. This takes away from a person’s individuality because they want to feel accepted by others and therefore, a person will accomplish this basic need of approval through conforming.

The conflict that I encounter this week was to put to sleep my cat. It was a very difficult decission and very hard to say goodbye to my pet. I know this is not a big conflict or for some people something serious, but in the end is a life and you have to make a hard decision.
Change should be seen as a challenge and embraced with enthusiasm (Marquis & Huston, 2012). In my professional and personal life, I view and respond to change as a way to make improvements to existing regulations and circumstances. I embark upon the quest with determination to succeed at whatever task is presented to me. Life without change can become unchallenging and stagnant (Marquis & Huston, 2012). As society and technology advance, you must incorporate the necessary transformations that arise with it.

Every decision I make in life, it can make a change on it. One of the best ways I can relate it with my personal life is when I was going to move to Canada.

In any decision we make in society today we highly analyze and reflect on the judgement we are going to make. “That is, judgement that is both purposeful and reflective” (Think Critically p. 2). Our mind is capable of withstanding evidence, conceptualizations, methods and contexts all at one time. The ability of doing so is called “Critical Thinking.” We all do this but not all of us are aware. The concepts of critical thinking and creative thinking are both gaining increasing importance in the world today. Critical thinking allows people to understand difficult concepts in a manner that is clearer and more defined. They can more readily understand those concepts if they employ critical thinking. In all portions of everyday life, a person is expected to make independent judgments. Those judgments are based on experience and knowledge.
