Persuasive Essay : Why Students Should DonT Have Homework?

Assigning homework to student athletes can harm their performance in school and in their sport. One of my reasons why homework should not be assigned, is that the students don’t have the extra time to complete the homework. Another reason why homework should not be assigned includes, the students need to get enough sleep for school the next day. My final reason, if homework is assigned it should not be too much and it should not take longer than a half an hour to complete. In conclusion, homework should not be assigned to student athletes on game day.

By not giving out homework, students will work harder in class and have better grades. Teachers have to understand that if students are tired from late nights, they wouldn't be able to work efficiently during the day. In addition, students would be much more excited to come to school because they know they wouldn't have to worry about getting any homework. In 2010, a survey was taken and it showed that about 70% of teen ages 11 to 17 get less than 8 hours of sleep per day due to the amount of homework they have to do (Logos). According to Alfie Kohen, students feel forced to do their homework, therefore they aren't learning as much as they should (Ethos). Students lose interest in the topic and do not benefit from what they’re learning. In China, a cry for change by a mother who lost her thirteen year old daughter who committed suicide due to her inability to achieve in math, the mother considers homework is a huge negative factor toward her deceased daughter's tragic ending along with the pressure of society (Pathos). Such a story should leave us wondering, how many more children need to suffer the silent epidemic of school stress. Not only does homework help student but also it creates interaction between teens and parents. However, statics has shown that even though homework is a way to refresh what students have learned, it also create stress for students. Homework has shown its benefits for student but most of the time when student is given a homework it’s likely he/she will not do it. They believe it’s stressful,and when they can’t get the right answer, they gave up instantly instead of keep practicing. According to researchers, they believe that when student do more homework they get better grades and do well on the test/quizzes that were given. Even though homework has many advantage toward students, it also has disadvantage. Which include having too much homework and these things could lead to mental health issue toward students.

Because kids need time to do homework, if they are free then they have a chance to do homework. To begin, students get to learn new skills. They become better, but that is if they do their homework, they would be better at that unit. In addition, they get to prepare for the future and what’s ahead of them. Students could get a job in a future, so they would need to have practice with homework, so if you have to use what you learned for the job, then you would need practice for it first so you know what you're doing. Along with, they would get an achievement for what they are doing if they mastered that unit. Sometimes our parents have no time to help us because they have their jobs. Then if we can’t get any help it’s going to be either a late grade or an F because we can’t get a good grade without a complete assignment. Our parents could also have a goodnight sleep without having to worry about us failing their classes because of homework. Teachers will also gain out of no homework because they don’t have to deal with grading messy handwriting and awful grammar. They don’t have to stay up however long it takes just to grade all the papers their students. It’s especially hard for middle school teachers and up because there are so many kids and so many different classes. Teachers can go anywhere they want if their lesson plan is finished for the next day if there is no homework. They won’t have to deal with angry kids, teens and yelling at them if they’re failing school because of homework. Homework is keeping everyone up.

High school students feel more stress than working adults, and children are beginning to feel aversion towards learning. Both adolescents and children are at risk of health issues due to anxiety and less time is spent with family, playing, and sleeping. The cause for all of this is too much homework that is suffocating students. Homework causes students to sleep less, have more stress, and even forces students to give up extracurricular activities. These negative results can be improved by reducing the homework load.

Students shouldn’t have homework because they can’t go hang out with their friends as much. Students have responsibilities outside of school that they have to take care of.

Do you know what it feels like to be pressured? To feel like you just can't do something, or just absolutely cannot complete something? To feel like you are not able to do something? Well, unfortunately, kids feel this way all of the time. You're probably wondering why. Believe it or not, the cause for this is homework. Did you know that homework can cause major stress that can lead to drug abuse, alcohol abuse, or even thoughts of suicide? This partly why schools should not have homework. Yes, you might think that homework should be in schools because it can also establish great habits with kids, but homework is not such a friendly aspect of life for everyone. In fact, it takes up tons of their life. You might think that it's unfortunate, but homework should not occur.

High school students don’t get enough homework. Too many students are getting sleep during school, which could only be because they are being deprived from all the wonderful homework they are suppose to be getting. Forcing students to do homework should be the main things teachers do as their job. Homework is key to understanding everything in school and everything in the real world. Homework is everything in school. If students don’t get the homework, well then they won’t be graduating anytime soon, because you need to have homework to make it in the real world as an adult.

What the public is concerned about is if homework should even be assigned? Homework was contrived to prepare students and help them engage them in the content being taught. Homework also enacts time management skills and responsibility of growing young adults. Although the debate about if homework should be given minimally or in discretion and that homework has no verified benefits still stands. Homework is necessary for causing students to be engaged in the content taught and delivers time management skills for the future.

With Christmas quickly approaching, I sincerely feel compelled to reach out to those of you who may be experiencing difficult emotions due to the absence of loved ones. Holidays are often catalysts for such instances of despair and longing as unfortunately, I, myself, know all too well. I lost both my husband and my father within the past three years, and while I’ve prevailed in becoming stronger and more determined than I ever thought possible, this time of year never fails to unearth the raw pain that permanently resides just beneath the surface. So, from the deepest regions of my heart, my pledge to you is this…if any of you, whether it be day or night, ever need an empathetic ear or shoulder, I’m merely an email, message or phone call

Students today are overwhelmed by the amount of homework they are doing. Schools are giving kids so much homework it's causing them to be stressed and lose sleep, lose their family and free time, and it's causing kids to have health problems.

Schools have a tremendous job that the American society expects them to uphold and keep on standard. That job is educating our youth to be the next leaders and figures in generations to come. This requires schools to adapt and incorporate appropriate techniques and procedures that will in the end provide kids the best education possible. However one of those tools, homework, has taken a decline when it comes to the minds of young children in the elementary schools of the L.A. county school district. According to an Edutopia research study, “young students are still developing study habits like concentration and self-regulation” (Terada ,1) translating into the loss of homework’s value and validity within the context of children. There needs to be a clear instruction to outline the specifics of limiting the number of hours and the types of homework assignments a child in the grades 1st-4th has to work on outside of class, while at the same time supplementing this policy by providing a diversified after school program able to reach any child’s needs. This educational policy will in turn revamp the educational value embedded in homework from the perspectives of children and set them on a path to be successful all while maintaining the youthfulness of being a child.

Picture this, Bailey sits on her bed, surrounded by multiple folders, and dozens of papers everywhere. Her room looked like a bomb went off. She has to dig through all of these things just to find her pencil. Her chromebook is out of its case, and Bailey is hard at work, typing away. Her room is brightly lit by her overhead light, and a lamp. This way she can see all of her papers clearly. Bailey is trying to finish all of her homework at a decent time. This student is stressing out over her boatload of homework, hoping she can get it all done. She is as busy as a bee. She hears her mom calling from downstairs, “Bailey it’s time for dinner,” she responds with,

The majority of students have, at one point or another, wished for less homework. For some student’s homework is not a big issue but for other students it can take hours and even days to do all their homework. That wasted time could be used for enjoyment or learning life skills instead of homework. Nine in ten high school students reported feeling stressed about homework (Galloway 4). So, should students get less homework? Yes, students should receive less homework because it improves their well-being by reducing stress and its impacts on health, increasing leisure time, and showing that homework does not affect grades significantly.
