Speech is way of communicating to people it means speaking, verbal communication or to express thoughts, feelings and ideas. Children may learn through copying other children or adults which helps them to produce sounds which will then help to say words that other people can understand. In my setting I have non-verbal children so there speech is usually babbling or making a gesture through pointing.

The development of stereoscopic 3D made this technology obsolete. For Avatar, James Cameron helped develop a new filming set up that “consists of a number of stereoscopic cameras… built to mimic human eyes… that [allow] the cinematographer to capture two images simultaneously, which align perfectly with and provide the illusion of depth.” (Johnson). As a result, the red-and-green glasses of the past were replaced with the clear-lensed glasses that are the norm in movie theaters today. Even though the fad of 3D cinema is not as prevalent now as it once was, Avatar deserves credit for its contribution to legitimizing the concept of “made-for-3D movies” in the theater

There are communication access real-time translation or CART this provides another form of communication. “This is when words are spoken, a CART provider, or translator, types them on the computer for a deaf or hearing-impaired person to read” (Dunlap, 2011). There are also assistive listening devices, which are technology aids, the deaf and hard of hearing in many ways. “Assistive listening devices or ALD’s help people hear better in cases of background noise or bad acoustics” (Dunlap, 2011).

As the speaker continues more information is given. The listener is then able to collect the verbal and non-verbal data to gain a better understanding of what is being communicated (Eunson 2008: 310).

The word speech when used in relation to children and young people’s development literally means the act of speaking, verbal communication, or to express thoughts, feelings, or ideas.

Speech and language services- they can help people who have problems with their speech or who has had a stroke and have difficulties with their speech.

Speechreading (sometimes called lipreading) involves teaching hearing-impaired children to use visual information to understand what is being said to them. There are two general approaches to teaching speechreading. The analytic method emphasizes teaching the person to perceive small segments of speech, such as syllables, and then to recognize them when they are put together in words and sentences. The synthetic method promotes the idea that the person should concentrate on the meaning of speech rather than on individual sounds.

Speech therapy helps children who have trouble with their speech, allowing them to practice their speech with exercises, or teaching them an alternate mode of communication such as sign language or pictures. You may also be able to use special equipment at home to help your child communicate.
