The Soviet War Of Russia Essay

1947 through 1991 was the time period of the Cold War; the Cold War was a result caused by the tension of the after math of what had happened with world war 2 .The tension that was there wasn 't just any kind of tension it was military tension between the power of the eastern bloc and the power of the western bloc. The Cold War wasn 't only one war but it was decades of "little"wars and intimidation. Germany was busy after the war, there where so much tension between the Soviet Union and the western allies because they had feared each other because they had thought a new war could arise. Minister Churchill then decided that he would put what would be an iron curtain across Europe. The Cold War had so many little conflicts within it like the Chinese revolution, the Palestine liberation organisation, and so many more hundreds if you would that happened in the Cold War time.

At the commencement of the Soviet Union, there was a grave of food shortages; to improve the agricultural productions; in 1921 Lenin instated the New Economic Plan (NEP). The New Economic Plan gave the opportunity for the farmers or peasants to produce their crops for profit; in the years that followed, some of these farmers were prosperous after the implementation of the NEP. Unfortunately, Stalin abandoned the NEP and replaced it with the Five Year Plan, he also justified the collectivization of Agriculture and lastly Stalin’s statism had an impact on Russian History.

When one hears the common phrase, “The only good commie is a dead one,” the Cold War comes to mind. This war, cold because of no direct violence towards each country, was a major contribution to future wartime diplomacy. The clever Americans used many tactics to create a “cold” war that would benefit them in every aspect. The fear of communism consuming smaller countries exaggerated the possibility that America’s economy could be jeopardized. Politicians also helped guarantee anti-communist principles in the United States. Imitating the government, the media and other political figures helped create a frenzy of fear. The United States was more to blame for the Cold War than the Soviet Union.

The Cold War was a period in world history marked with increased tensions primarily between the United States and the Soviet Union. Both countries desired to expand their ideologies across the globe, the U.S. urging capitalism and democratic elections and the Soviets promoting communism.

Because of these build downs, The United States military has reduced its strength by about a third of what it was in 1985.  Despite this reduction in military strength,  U.S. military deployment has gone up a third (Kaminski 1).  This does not make good sense.  Just because the Soviet Union has crumbled does not mean that all of America's worries have faded away.  There are new threats that have replace the terror of Russia.  These include regional aggressors such as North Korea, Iraq, and Iran (Federation of American Scientists 1).  Regional conflicts among these lesser powers have grown in importance because of the invention nuclear weapons of mass destruction.  Since the breakup of the Soviet union, the market has been flooded with inexpensive military arms.  Some of these arms have found their way into regional conflicts (Sandler 2).  The possibility of another World War can not be dismissed from the possibilities as well. The world still contains potential dangers for the U.S., and a strong military must be in place for any of these threats.

It was not until after World War I that Russia began to undergo a series of changes. One major war ended and another to begin. The Cold war lasted about 45 years. There were no direct military campaigns between the United States and Soviet Union. However, billions of dollars and millions of lives were lost. The United States emerged as the greatest power from World War 2. (Give Me Liberty 896) The country boasted about having the most powerful navy and air force. The United states accounted for about half of the world’s manufacturing capacity, which it alone created the atomic bomb.

The cold war has become one of the major historic events to remember in the history of many superpower countries among them, Russia and the United States of America. After the end of World War II, the cold war emerged as a state of geopolitical tension between the two powers in the Eastern bloc and the Western bloc. The Eastern bloc comprised of the Soviet Union which was formally known as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and unofficially referred as Russia. While the Middle East and China will remain concerns in the near future, the most significant threat to the United States domestically and internationally will be Russia. For years, Russia was often overlooked as a large “Failed State” with the fall of Communism and the collapse of its Socialist government. Under Vladimir Putin, Russia has enacted policies aimed at modernizing its military, reacquiring former Soviet states, and undermining the United States and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO.)

Despite having unwaveringly opposed NATO’s expansion to include previously Russian territories such as Ukraine and Georgia (Mearsheimer, 2014), in the mid 1990s, the Clinton administration openly disregarded Russia’s concerns by pushing for NATO’s expansion towards previous members of the Soviet Union. By 2004, Latvia, Romania, Estonia, Poland, Hungary and many more were admitted to NATO (Mearsheimer, 2014). This raised numerous concerns in Moscow as Putin had made it clear that Russia would not tolerate NATO’s enlargement into Russia’s most

Russia also has influences on other nations due to its increase of military force and the result of what citizens do by joining other organizations. The Russian government has been investing more money into the military, and now the rest of the world is able to see the benefits Russia has reaped from doing this. Russia has plans to produce both more power and greater number of jets and ships. The number naval ships which Russia plans to have for its Navy are going to continue to grow incrementally, “In 2013, it was 5,900 days [of sailings]. In 2014, already 12,700, in 2015 – 14,200, in 2016 – 15,600, and in 2017 - 17,100 days,” the Admiral says.” (Nilsen, 2017) This will be used to help increase the patrol in a certain region of Russia

In December 30th, 1922 was born the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The intention behind the founding of this association was to achieve an egalitarian, socialist state and where humble workers, a majority community, were able to gain control over the so-called "capitalists" who sought to keep them at their mercy.
