Marketing Mix
The marketing mix is the general phrase used to describe the different kinds of choices organisations have to make in the whole process of bringing a product or service to the market...
The marketing mix consists of the 4 P’s Product, Price, Place and Promotion.
Promotion is about how the customers are informed about a particular product or service and plays a vital role. So promotion basically carries the 3 Ps of the marketing mix by presenting that all important information to the right target market.

So promotion delivers all the important messages behind the product that Thorpe Park believe will attract the customer and also convince them into coming to the park to experience the ride.

The marketing mix has to be promoted by Thorpe Park in order for them to achieve their aims and objectives
Price
In terms of price, Thorpe Park tries to be competitive with other leisure activities that are very popular one of which being football matches. When promoting, Thorpe Park will advertise the prices to people and they have to convince people that they are better off spending money on coming to Thorpe Park then paying the same amount to go and watch a football match which they will only benefit from two hours of entertainment as oppose to Thorpe park where you can get more than double the amount of entertainment. So it is all about value for money and so Thorpe Park will assess this and price their tickets accordingly to attract more customers and convince people that a day at Thorpe Park is much more fulfilling than a two hour period at a football
Thorpe Park is a theme park located in Chertsey surrey and is owned by a company called Merlin entertainments, and is the second largest location based entertainments business in the world. The only company that is bigger than Merlin Entertainments is Disney world.
From my research I found that Drayton Manor use a range of promotional offers to increase their revenue for example, I found that Drayton Manor use advertising, advertising is defined as any "paid-for method of promotion". Advertising is the main form of "above the line promotion". Advertising presents or promotes the product to the target audience through a variety of media such as TV, radio, cinema, online, social media and magazines to encourage them to buy. The problem with advertising is that consumers are bombarded with advertising messages every day. One method the business uses is chat magazine, this is because females are their main target audience, and this is effective because it means Drayton Manor will be able to attract more customers, which gains them more sales revenue. I found they spent £4000 per year on this strategy this shows that it was effective because they spent a reasonable amount of money to reach out far to their new customers to gain even more profit back which would overlap the price which they paid for the magazine, therefore the strategy was very effective. It also impacted their competitiveness because it means that more people know about the park and allows them to overtake their competitors as people would rather go to Drayton Manor. I think this was an effective strategy to Drayton Manor and one which I think adds to their long term growth. Another example of advertising that the park uses is bus and rail advertising, and this is
“For a promotion to be successful, it must be profitable. And to be profitable, it must enhance some, if not all, of the following goals: 1. Paid attendance, 2. Corporate tie-ins, 3. Sponsor value, and 4. Media coverage” (Helitzer 317). Promotions must increase the number of people at the event, or paid attendance, it also must enhance corporate tie-ins, which are signs or give-a-ways at the stadium. Sponsor value, or the value perceived by the sponsor must also be enhanced along with media coverage. Media coverage is enhanced by sending the local or national media sources bulletins about the events or by having press conferences. A strategy that a sports marketer must use is to stagger the promotional gimmicks throughout the event. If one staggers the promotion, then the audience is always aware of the event and looking out for the promotions.
