Progress Report 15: July 12

Summary & Analysis

Charlie is given a curt but cordial welcome by Nemur at the lab. He hands over Algernon to Burt who notices a steady decline in Algernon’s intelligence.

Charlie confronts Nemur on the lab’s plans for him, in case he regresses and is unable to remain intelligent. He is told that he will be institutionalized and the foundation will look after his expenses for the rest of his life. Charlie expresses a desire to visit the Warren State House, where he might possibly end up forever.

Charlie immerses himself in the different studies of psychology and refrains Fay from visiting the lab to avoid her meeting Alice.

He is taking complete charge of his life and future and using his heightened intelligence to find the right solutions for himself. Charlie has, truly, grown up.
