Our aim is to take increase toy paratrooper flight time with the parachutes provided and find suitable alternatives to reduce its descent through the most feasible means. The justification for increased flight time being if we were to take these model paratroopers to represent actual paratroopers' lower descent speeds will provide safer landings and more maneuverable descents. We learned through observation that our paratrooper's initial descent is practically freefall and extremely erratic which gives us our main point of optimization. Our only variables which we can alter are wind resistance provided by said parachute, elevation, conditions(temperature) within a margin, and weight. We will make alterations where it is possible to reach our goal of a practical lower descent speed and thereby an increase in descent time and more stable, safe flight for our toy paratroopers.

- Sarah Chang is the owner of a small electronics company. In six months, a proposal is due for an electronic timing system for the next Olympic Games. For several years, Chang’s company has been developing a new microprocessor, a critical component in a timing system that would be superior to any product currently on the market. However, progress in research and development has been slow, and Chang is unsure whether her staff can produce the microprocessor in time. If they succeed in developing the microprocessor (probability p1), there is an excellent chance (probability p2) that Chang’s company will win the $1 million Olympic contract. If they do not, there is a small chance (probability p3) that she will still be able to win the same contract with an alternative but inferior timing system that has already been developed. If she continues the project, Chang must invest $200,000 in research and development. In addition, making a proposal (which she will decide whether to do after…Salt & Pepper & Co (Salt & Pepper) is a firm of Chartered Certified Accountants which has seen its revenue decline steadily over the past few years. The firm is looking to increase its revenue and client base and so has developed a new advertising strategywhere it has guaranteed that its audits will minimise disruption to companies as they will not last longer than two weeks. In addition, Salt & Pepper has offered all new audit clients a free accounts preparation service for the first year of the engagement, as it is believed that time spent on the audit will be reduced if the firm has produced the financial statements. The firm is seeking to reduce audit costs and has therefore decided not to update the engagement letters of existing clients, on the basis that these letters do not tend to change much on a yearly basis. One of Salt & Pepper’s existing clients has proposed that this year’s audit fee should be based on a percentage of their final pre-tax profit. The…Sarah Chang is the owner of a small electronics company. In six months, a proposal is due for an electronic timing system for the next Olympic Games. - A company is considering either (1) purchasing equipment for use on a new project (purchase cost = $5,000; purchase variable cost = $50 per day) or (2) leasing this equipment from a vendor at a rate of $100 per day. An initial analysis determined that the “purchase” option break-even point is 100 days. Based on this analysis, the company should Lease the equipment if the expected project is expected to last more than 100 days Purchase the equipment if the expected project is expected to last less than 100 days Purchase the equipment if the expected project is expected to last more than 100 days No answer text provided.Digital Controis, Inc. (DCI), manufactures two models of a radar gun used by police to monitor the speed of automobiles. Model A has an accuracy of plus or minus 1 mile per hour, whereas the smaller model B has an accuracy of plus or minus 3 miles per hour. For the next week, the company has orders for 100 units of model A and 150 units of model B. Although DCI purchases all the electronic components used in both models, the plastic cases for both models are manufactured at a DCI plant in Newark, New Jersey. Each model A case requires 4 minutes of injection-molding time and 6 minutes of assembly time. Each model B case requires 3 minutes of injection-molding time and 8 minutes of assembly time. For next week, the Newark plant has 600 minutes of injection-molding time avallable and 1,080 minutes of assembly time availab The manufacturing cost is $10 per case for model A and $6 per case for model B. Depending upon demand and the time avalable at the Newark plant, DCI occasionally…Same situation as in the previous two problems this time the magnet s mass is 5.68 kg and the magnetic force pulling it to the right is 170.9 N. - Suppose it is equally likely that a plane flight is 50%,60%, 70%, 80%, or 90% full.a What fraction of seats on a typical flight are full? This is known as the flight load factor.b We are always complaining that there are never empty seats on our plane flights. Given the previous in-formation, what is the average load factor on a plane trip I take? The Platinum Star Hotel in Kingston, NY, is considering doing overbooking in order to deal with the constant problem they have with no-shows. The table given below presents the number of no-shows and the probability of each occurring. Number of Shows (d) Probability of No-shows Occurring P(d) 0 0.10 1 0.07 2 0.12 3 0.02 4 0.07 5 0.01 6 0.04 7 0.19 8 0.22 9 0.16 a) What would be your recommendation for overbooking if the average rate per room per night is S125 and the cost of not honoring a reservation is $155? b) What is the expected loss for your overbooking choice? c) State the reasoning for selecting your overbooking choice?Suppose the following costs for a 10-hour round-trip flight apply to the time frame and expenses of an unscheduled 5-hour charter flight from Baltimore to Las Vegas (and return the next day) on a seven-year-old Boeing 737–800 with 120 occupied seats. Some costs listed in the table have been aggregated up to the flight level from a seat-level decision where they are incurred. Others have been allocated down to the flight level from an entry/exit or maintain-ownership company-level decision. Still other costs vary with the go/no go flight-level decision itself. Your job is to analyze each cost item and figure out the “behavior of cost”—that is, with which decision each cost varies. Fuel and landing fees =$5,200 Quarterly airframe maintenance re: FAA certificate = $1,000 Unscheduled engine maintenance per 10 flight hours =$1,200 Pro rata time depreciation for seventh year of airframe = $7,200 Flight pay for pilots per round-trip flight = $4,200 Long-term hangar facility lease = $6,600…
