Interpretation: The reason corresponding to the fact that an alkyne often has a slightly higher boiling point than an alkene of similar molecular weight is to be stated.

Concept introduction: The temperature at which a liquid starts changing its phase into a gas is known as boiling point.

The sp hybridized carbon has higher s-character. Thus, it possesses higher electronegativity than sp2 hybridized carbon because high s-character percentage corresponds to the higher electronegativity. The highly electronegative carbon that is sp carbon will attract more bonded electrons that leads to the high concentration of negative charge. Thus, the direction of dipole moves towards the sp carbon.
