To analyze:
The three step food chain that might occur in our community. Use specific organisms.
Introduction:
Food chains are sequence of transfer of energy and matter in the form of food from one living organism to another. The main three steps of food chain are
Primary producer → primary consumer → secondary consumer
Explanation of Solution
All living organisms need nutrients to live their life, the energy flow one organism to next organism this phenomenon is known as a food chain. Food chain consists of producer, primary consumer and secondary consumer. The primary producer is autotrophs such as sun light.
The second step is consumers called heterotroph. They are not able to make their own food so they depend on primary producer. For example, insects, and grasshopper.
The second step is secondary consumers called heterotroph that eats other consumers. They are high level of consumer and predators. For example, human eat both producers and other consumers.
Therefore, food chain transfers energy from organism to organism in three main steps, primary producers, primary consumers, and secondary consumers.
