Concept explainers
To Explain:
Reason for the increment in the output potential of the electric generator when it is subjected to high magnetic field and what are thee other ways to increase the output.
Answer to Problem 14SSC
The output potential difference of the electric generator is increased when the magnitude of the induced EMFis directly proportional to the magnetic field strength. The increase in field strength increases the induction between the two coils and the output also increase.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Potential difference is known as the difference in electric potential between two points. It makes the current flow in the circuit.
The magnetic field is a vector field that finds out the magnetic influence of electric charge in relative motion and magnetic material.
The magnetic field is produced when current flows through a metallic conductor such as a wire. If a wire is coiled around then the magnetic field will be stronger.
Induced EMF magnitude is directly proportional to the magnetic field strength. If the field strength increases, then potential difference induced is also greater in the conductor. The formula for EMF is,
Output potential difference can also be increased when the length of the wire or the velocity of the wire increases.
Another way to increase the ouput is to increase the number of tuns of the wire on the iron core and rotating the shaft faster.
Conclusion:
The increase strength of the magneti filed increases the inducation which takes palce between the coils and hence the output is also high. Another way to increase the output is to increase the number of turns on the iron core or to roate the shaft at high speed.
