There are three σ interactions, giving rise to three σ MOs and three σ* MOs (Fig. 3-24). Additionally, the C atoms contribute two pairs of overlapping p AOs, one shown in blue (py) and the other in green (pz) in Figures 3-24. Each pair gives rise to one π MO and one π* MO.
