Decision making is the first phase of the problem-solving model. Decision making is the process of identifying decision by making different choices on a single problem by gathering information and assessing alternative solutions.

The three stages of decision making are the Intelligence stage, the Design stage, and the Choice stage.

The different stages of the problem-solving method are: -

  • Intelligent stage: - This is the first stage of the problem-solving process. This stage includes: -
    • Identifying the problem.
    • Defining the potential problems or opportunities.
    • Determining in which process the problem lies.
    • Specifying the cause of the problem.
  • Design stage: - This is the second stage of the problem-solving process. It includes: -
    • Developing an alternative solution to the problem which can evaluate the feasibility of the solution.
    • Brainstorming on others’ ideas and including all involved individuals in generating an alternative.
  • Choice stage: - This stage which requires selecting a course of action means you can choose alternatives. In this stage, various strategies were analyzed than a decision was made.
