The second competency that we learned about in class is how to best organize a paper, and how to determine a strategy about writing that paper. The strategy would differ based on what you’re writing your paper about, and what kind of paper you’re writing. One thing that I found helped organize my thoughts when I am in the planning stages of my essay is dividing my thinking into three categories. The first category is “What I know,” the second category is “What I think I know,” and the third category is “What I don’t know.” I’ve done this in school, but I never even thought of doing it with my writing until I read about it in Corinne E. Hinton's, “So you’ve got a writing assignment. Now what?” When I apply this to my writing, I first read the
Critical thinking is one of the most important traits that a person can have in their day to day lives. It involves the person to have the ability to ascertain claims and make judgments based on well-support evidence or logic rather than anecdote or emotion. There are 8 protocols that critical thinkers’ exhibit in their day to day lives in order to become better at their craft.

My mother and I is quite similar to one another, except with connection. Mom likes to be surrounded by her family, close friends and dependent on others. The contrast, I am independent but I do like being close to my family and friends.
The main point of Hydroxycut is to help loose weight in a fast amount of time just like every woman wants diamonds, I think that everyone wants that youthful looking body back as well. We all want the energy that we had as a youth and the metabolism as well so that we can eat whatever
Elder and Paul (2011) posit, “There are predictable stages through which every person who develops as a critical thinker passes” (p. 1). I agree with this assertion. If we assume that the premise learning is a process holds true, then that process offers great insights of Elder and Paul’s argument. The later premise for learning as a process shows that a thinker must moves from regions of familiarity to unfamiliar one. Critical thinking requires that the person understand the basic concept of a theory if s/he is to think critically about that theory. The converse ideation where critical thinking precedes basic understanding is fallacious. This makes critical thinking process to be predictable.
This assignment will showcase your ability to recognize and examine argument structure. Please be sure to follow all of the assignment guidelines, which your instructor will give to you in class or listed below.
After reading " CLUES to Critical Thinking" in chapter 5, I disagree with the Supreme Court's decision to allow Law enforcements to strip search an arrested individual who had only committed a minor offense. The Fourth Amendment clearly states that, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated. Unreasonable can be defined as not guided by or based on good sense, which in this case, strip searching an individual for a minor offense can be seen as unreasonable. The only time a cop should be able to strip search you is when the officer has a reasonable suspicion that you are either carrying contraband or an illegal weapon, that is what strip searches are for. It is not
This is my thirteenth online or hybrid class taken through the Peralta Colleges. As a returning, older student with a demanding full-time job, online classes make it possible for me to continue my education. I am a big fan of the online format, particularly well-structured courses such as this one.
The outcome that I think will be the most challenging for me will probably be demonstrating critical thinking skills in response to readings/texts. That will probably be challenging because defining what appeals to the ethos, pathos, logos can get a tad bit confusing for me and sometimes I can mix things up. For example, if I think something is appealing to logic, in reality, it is appealing to emotions and values. Interpreting visual arguments can also be difficult due to the fact that interpreting is dependent on one's background knowledge and experiences. So the way I interpret something could be different to what someone else interprets.

Critical thinking involves rationalizing a given situation and objectively evaluating information (Myers, 2011). This particular method of processing information forces one to assess misleading evidence and strive for accuracy in recorded findings as opposed to trusting his/her, often faulty, intuition. The ability to think critically is very crucial to psychology when evaluating test results because it requires one to ask questions, second guess his/her assumptions, and ignore biases. Critical thinking can be influenced in both biological and psychological ways. The skill of thinking critically can be influenced psychologically because one must yearn to want to evaluate properly and question things rather than
You are one of the 4 candidates for the position; and everyone regards a lot from you. So, you must be ready for the speech, and show the knowledge of how the school’s system works. You are walking to the stage and the only thing that came to your brain is What should I say.? This kind of situations required us to be critical thinkers. A critical thinker is a person that analyzes situations from different points of view before providing an opinion. We as students have mentors that help us to develop our critical thinking skills. Teaching critical thinking skills is significant because through them we can learn how to take vital decisions, and how to apply them in our professional
ffer and Rubenfeld (2000) define reflection as “ contemplation upon a subject, especially one’s assumptions and thinking for the purposes of deeper understanding and self-evaluation.”
, if not most, have heard of the phrase “use your critical thinking skills” but probably never truly understood what that meant and what it entails. There are seven steps that are used in critical thinking: Identification, research, analysis, application, decision making, evaluation, and reflection. The first step in the critical thinking process is identification which means exactly what the first steps is: identifying the problem or issue. The second step is research which is researching what the problem is, how it could have come about, and any possibilities to overcome the issue at hand. The third step is analysis, this means that one must analyze, or evaluate the smaller bits of the problem and piece together how everything works hand in hand with each other. The fourth step is application. Application simply means applying the general moral principles to the problem one is trying to fix, deciding which ones are most relevant to the issue, and how they conflict with each other. The fifth step of the critical thinking process is decision making. Decision making is choosing the most effective and most ethical choice from the available options and using it to fix the problem and be able to justify the decision. The sixth step to the critical thinking process is evaluation. The evaluation step not only asks the individual if the choice they made was the most effective decision; but was the decision is morally and ethically sound for their predicament. The seventh and final
Having employees with excellent critical thinking skills are the most important trait that one looks for. There are often times when working for a company that hasty decisions have to be made. Often times they are made so quickly that proper critical thinking of the situation is not done. This can lead to an employee having to go back on their decision and try to fix and correct mistakes that were made. So mistakes can often be an easy fix others can require more time. As an employer I look for employees that have quick critical thinking skills but, also have the ability to think smart when making critical thinking choices. I want my employees to have as less mistakes as possible which make my company run better. The better the employees are
