The project aim at teenagers, therefore sample group is between 13 to 19. I will set the sample sizes in 50 participants since it is easy to identity and more precision. If a sample sizes increase, it is very hard to estimate and become not accurate. Also, I’m worry about the extremes data can’t make a balance out, so the project prefers small sample sizes. It can take less effort to gain and maintain people, it is easy to produce significant results and comfortable to find a group of people. I will obtain samples from friends or friends’ sister and brother.

The online survey is easy to use for respondents when compare to other method like interview as people can access internet to answer survey, complete the survey in a short time. Increase in internet use communication can benefit the research, online survey research was a time-consuming task, different participants can do the survey at the same time and it is convenience and easy to reach people.

In addition, how the parents communicate with teenagers about social media is also important to the research. The sample group is focus on parents whom have 13-19 years old children can participate in the survey. The sample size need 50 participants which include 15 questions about what they think about the influence of social media and how they build effective communication with teenagers. I obtain the samples from different secondary school entrance since I know some parents will pick up their children outside the school. The survey only has one long question and the other 14 questions are multiple choices as I consider adults don’t have much time to participate because of working. $20 Coles vouchers will provide to 50 parents participants after they finished the survey.

The three methods including online survey for teenagers, Facebook page and survey for parents are reasonable and easy to achieve, the decision is rationale and able to finish. The methods allow me to address my two research questions which are how the use of social
