This essay presents a critique of a peer-reviewed article, Beccue, B., Vila, J., & Whitley, L. (2001). The effects of adding audio instructions to a multimedia computer based training environment, which utilises quantitative research methods. In this research study, the researchers clearly state what the main purpose of the study is, which was “to determine if the addition of an audio component had an effect on the learning and attitudes of the students” (p. 50). In this case, therefore, the principal question under investigation is whether or not incorporation of audio instructions improves the quantity of materials retained within the multimedia laboratory. Additionally, the researchers go deeper to establish if the introduction of the …show more content…

Further to this, the research sufficiently states the research aims, as stipulated by Wells and Stage (2015) regarding quality research studies. Research Description This journal employs a quantitative type of research and it is characterised by the collection of data and analysing the same based on measurements and numbers. The research is equally a practical one, blending problem-based and theoretical research approaches. The theoretical approach is evident in the manner it focuses its ultimate aim on defining the ideal techniques for the creation of the materials for multimedia CBT, as well as attempting to impact improvements on the course in which students demonstrated low performances. The analysis of this study, in line with the guidelines provided by Smith (2014), demonstrates that this is a teacher-centered study, with the activities being researched intending to improve teacher performance in the respective courses in computer science. The research is apparently meant to be a traditional form of study that helps in improving the understanding and methods applied in creation and development of materials for multimedia CBT for use in higher education. Constructs Reale (2014) notes that in order to enhance the effectiveness of answering questions in an experiment as well as testing the research hypothesis, constructs should be adequately
