Mór Jókai (1825–1904)
Jókai, Mór (yō’ko-i). A Hungarian novelist, journalist, and publicist; born in Komorn, Feb. 19, 1825; died on May 5, 1904. ‘The White Rose,’ ‘The Gold Man,’ ‘The Man with the Iron Heart,’ ‘Mine, Thine, His,’ ‘Pater Pater,’ ‘The Poor Rich,’ and ‘Peter the Priest’ (1897), are among his best works.
