When you see a solider in his or her uniform, you are proud that they are serving this country to protect our freedom, securing our country, and defending democracy worldwide. The solider can come from different branches of the Military. The one you might be familiar with is the U.S. Army. These soldiers are well respected and prepared to serve our country whenever and wherever needed, combat-ready at all times, and trained to counter any threat, anywhere. Over 17 million cars and trucks are sold around the world every year. Amongst the plethora of car companies aiming to convince shoppers that their car is paramount, marketing teams ought to go the extra mile. By developing a persuading advertisement, companies are more likely to sell their products. On February 6, 2011, Volkswagen aired a Superbowl commercial for the first time in over ten years. This commercial would be one that awakens the inner child of millions. By employing pathos, ethos, and logos rhetoric techniques, Volkswagen is able to appeal to consumers in order to sell their new car.

Dodge Ram Trucks, a division of the Chrysler Group created in 2009, focused on the public needs with the pickup truck. In a male-dominated truck industry, approximately 11% of pickup trucks in the United States are registered to females. With such a small number of percentage of women truck owners, Ram debuted a television advertisement. In 2015, during the 141st Kentucky Derby to appeal to female buyers. By doing so, they inspired women to break the stereotypes, specifically the male-dominated truck industry. Through its carefully incorporated narration, Ram appeals to the courage of women through aural and visual techniques and utilizes specific examples of females, who overcame obstacles in their profession, to provide further inspiration and create a valuable rhetorical commercial.

Co-founder of think-tank Demos, David Callahan, in his nonfiction book, The Cheating Culture, presents how cheating has become a prevalent influence in American society. Callahan’s purpose is not to shame Americans for breaking the law for a minimal profit, but rather, he intends to eliminate the underlying cause of cheating, which is the increasing gap between the rich and the poor. He adopts a sympathetic tone in order to appeal to similar feelings and experiences in his widespread readers.

Improving undesirable working conditions for women and eliminating child labor was an impassioned issue for female reformers during the time of industrialization in the United States. Florence Kelley, a united states social worker and reformer, opposes the appalling work environment children as young as six would toil through and relays her speech to the National Woman Suffrage Association to propel her audience to demand changes that are necessary to stop countless hours of hard-work the youth struggle to complete. Kelley adopts a fervid tone in order to convince the audience that political action is needed to adjust the laws that allows child labor to continue in many states with her use of pathos and rhetorical questions meant to stir action

Award winning journalist and author, Jon Krakauer, in his book, Into the Wild, analyzes the life of Chris McCandless as well as the events that ensued his death. Krakauer’s purpose is to inform the reader about how and why Chris McCandless decided to embark on a journey into the wilderness of Alaska. He adopts an empathetic tone in order to impart to his readers that Chris McCandless was a very misunderstood young adult.

The primary election for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is to be held Thursday, September 3, 2015. This momentous occasion happens every four years. The elected chief and officials, such as council members, can run for office for as long as they see fit, for there is no term limit. Our past chief, Michell Hicks, was in office three consecutive terms for a total of twelve years. This year Hicks has decided to step down and the new candidates for chief are Patrick Lambert and Gene “Tunney” Crowe. These new candidates must be able to fill the role of a generous and successful leader to those of the Cherokee nation. In the book Touching Spirit Bear nobody cares for Cole. On page 33 Cole said to Garvey “ “ They don’t care if im dead or alive.”” If Coles parents really cared for him they would want alive. On page 33 Cole also thought to himself. “ He laughed at all the times he was beaten by his drunken father, or been ignored by his drunken mother.” This shows that Coles parents do not care for him because if his parents cared for him then they would have loved him more and not beat him and give him time. And on page 6 Cole thought “ They did not care what happened to him.” This proves that nobody cared for him he was talking about the counselors and Garvey because as Cole said “ They are just passing the buck.” and the people are just doing

The United States, as many believe, is the land of opportunity, however, when looking at individual states, towns, and cities, this popular slogan may seem false to some. Within each state, all schools, such as middle and high schools, may not receive or offer equity. In an effort to revel inequalities within school systems, I will discuss the differences between schools in my town, the apparent lack of public concern about schooling inequality, and what changes could be made in an effort to reduce schooling inequality.
