1a. Know and understand- to perceive as the fact or the truth; to grasp the meaning of an idea

1b. To know is to comprehend a statement or a fact. To understand is to grasp the idea as a whole and master the concept.

1c. I know the math theories, but I don’t understand how to apply them.

2a. Selfish and greedy- devoted to or caring for oneself; excessively or inordinately desire of wealth.

2b. To be selfish is to do anything to benefit themselves in any way. To be greedy is to do anything in order to accumulate more wealth.

2c. That selfish man won enough tickets for all his friends but kept them for himself, and that greedy man kept trying to sneak in so he wouldn’t have to pay the ticket price.

To convince someone they have to have changed their beliefs based on evidence or an argument. However in order to persuade someone, a person must urge them to do something or believe something, but once they do go along with it they still don’t believe it to be the best thing. Meaning that the person wasn’t convinced that the other person was right.

6c. Bob persuaded Jerry to sneak out of the house to go to the concert, but Jerry wasn’t convinced it was the best option.

7a. Interested and intrigued- having the attention or curiosity engaged; to arouse the curiosity or interest of by unusual, new, or otherwise fascinating or compelling qualities

7b. In order for a person to be interested their attention must be focused on a topic, and that topic can be anything, a bike or a new cell phone. For a person to be intrigued that person must be fully focused on something new and unusual. This can be a smartwatch or a virtual reality system. Both these things are relatively new and unusual, so when a person sees them they will be intrigued.

To smile means to show how much happiness a person has through a motion from their mouths. When a person smiles they usually experiencing something very pleasurable and are showing a more intense feeling of joy. When a person grins they are showing a smaller level of joy. Also when a person grins they tend to be unnoticeable, since the motions of a grin are not very visible.

8c. The child smiled out of joy when he saw his new bike for his birthday, however the shy girl grinned when she heard a funny joke from her friend.

9a. Courage and bravery- the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty,danger, and pain; making a fine appearance

9b. To have courage a person must be able to go through a process that brings pain or difficulty. When a courageous person is going through the process they are able to get through without feeling any fear. To have bravery a person must be willing to confront pain or a challenge without having fear, they don’t have to be doing anything that involves an actual challenge. Since they are brave they are able to go through with something without having the thought if there is a challenge
